Mariners Players Win Dancing With the Stars

Alex CarsonCorrespondent IIIJune 12, 2011

The Mariners have been doing the waltz, mambo and several other dances with the Texas Rangers for the last little while.

Dancing isn’t generally an activity I partake in. If the blinds are drawn and Michael Jackson is on, I might move my body in a manner that a child would call dancing, but let’s talk about the Mariners win this afternoon instead.

On June 4th, the Mariners lost a game to fall to 2.5 back off the AL West pace.

The next day, they won. But so did the Rangers. Then the M’s lost two in a row, but so did the Rangers.

This two-step continued until today, the 12th of June, in case you’re reading this years after my death when my work is finally appreciated. Think Van Gogh.

The M’s hung 7 up on the Tigers with Felix on the hill. The Rangers nearly got no-hit by Francisco Liriano in Minnesota.

Miguel Olivo is starting to make me feel like a dope for all the negative things I said after his signing. He blasted two more shots today. You cam debate the financial commitment if you like, but he’s earning his keep thus far.

Justin Smoak isn’t making anyone feel like a dope. And he sure loves hitting at Comerica it seems.

Ichiro has two straight two-hit games. Let’s hope this is the end of his woes and one of those scratch-your-head-at-how-good-he-is strings is starting.

Anyway, dancing sucks. I’m glad the Mariners aren’t dancing anymore.
