The Ultimate Fighter 14: Possible Guest Coaches for "Mayhem" Miller and Bisping

I will admit that I was not nearly as excited as most when I heard that Michael Bisping and Jason "Mayhem" Miller were named coaches for season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter.
That's not to say I didn't understand or applaud the UFC for making the call, because from a business and ratings standpoint, they were the best choice the promotion could have made. Their selection is a recipe for excitement, to say the least.
On one side you have a brash, trash-talking American who will do whatever it takes to get inside the head of his opponent. On the other side you have a trash-talking Englishman who has shown a penchant for letting the talk of others get under his skin. In short, it's almost certain that the train runs off the tracks at some point during this season of TUF.
After letting the news sink in for a while, I thought, what could make this season even more exciting...and then it hit me...(very) special guest coaches.
I present the best choices for possible guest coaching roles during season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter.
Michael Bisping Brings in the Diaz Brothers, Jake Shields and Gilbert Melendez
Ah, the Nashville Brawl...
On April 17, 2010 Jake Shields defended his title against Dan Henderson in Nasvhville. After the five round fight was over, Shields was being interviewed in cage when, for some reason, Jason Miller decided that was the best time to ask Shields for a rematch.
Turns out Miller was off a bit on his timing. A push from Shields led to a melee in the cage that featured the Diaz brothers and Gilbert Melendez trying to give Miller a "hand" in finding his way out of the cage.
Michael Bisping would be advised to bring these guys in if Miller's trash talking gets out of hand during the show, at the very least it will divert his focus from Bisping for a while.
'Mayhem' Miller Brings in Dan Henderson
Dan Henderson had coached opposite Michael Bisping during season nine of TUF. When the two coaches met at UFC 100 Dan Henderson KO'd Bisping in pretty spectacular style.
Later in an interview with MMAInterviews.TV, Henderson said the knockout was "fun," but "not a huge accomplishment in a fighting regard, but I think it was something that the whole world was hoping for and I gave it to them."
Miller could call Henderson in as a Greco-Roman wrestling coach and as a reminder to Bisping as to what happened the last time he was on TUF.
'Mayhem' Miller Brings in Matt Phinney and Jorge Rivera
Jorge Rivera met Michael Bisping in February of this year. To say that the videos that Rivera and his coach Matt Phinney made got under the skin of Bisping would be an understatement.
It would be interesting to see those fireworks reignited if Miller walked onto the TUF set with Rivera and Phinney in tow.
In case you forget about the videos, there is one above.
Bisping did defeat Rivera, but he let his emotions get the best of him after the fight, spitting in the direction of Rivera's team after he had won the fight.
Michael Bisping Brings in Georges St-Pierre
Jason Miller has exactly one UFC fight on his resume, a three round beating at the hands of Georges St-Pierre at UFC 52.
It may serve Bisping well to bring St-Pierre in just to serve as a reminder to Miller that he's fighting in the big leagues again and he shouldn't forget what happened last time he was in the UFC.
Chael Sonnen
This one is difficult to call. Who would bring Chael Sonnen in? This one would have to come from UFC president Dana White.
Sonnen has sounded off on both coaches.
Sonnen in an email obtained by MMAWeekly addressed to UFC matchmaker Joe Silva:
Joe:
If you get a chance to talk with him, please mention to your idiot-in-residence Michael Spitsbing it’ll be a little tougher to knee ME in the head when I’m charging at him like a runaway train and mincing him through the fence like a boiled potato, should we ever have the pleasure of each other’s company for a few (VERY few) moments in the Octagon.
On Miller via twitter:
“Comment on Mayhem how? In terms of his coaching contract, or generally not being worth the gas that brings his $.50 hair dye from China?”
Sonnen later added: “I buy a couple on "The Bachelor" before I buy Miller as a Coach. Ten bucks says that he brings Bisping a rose on the season finale.”
Maybe Sonnen could be used as a coach that addresses both teams and then proceeds to rip into each team's coach. Unnecessary? Sure, but highly entertaining.
