Dallas Mavericks Parade Will Be Paid For by Owner Mark Cuban

We knew he was loud and abrasive. We were even willing to say that he was the biggest fan amongst all the owners. But classy?

The classy label seems to suit Mark Cuban just fine. As his best player was transforming himself from a soft European export into a hard-as-nails Finals MVP, so too was Cuban changing his ways.

First, he shut his trap. The man who never met a sentence he didn't like found that mum was the perfect word during the past week.

There were no soundbites or trash talk from him. He remained silent, and let his players do the work. Second, he brought up the original owner of the Dallas Mavericks to accept the championship trophy. Don Carter received the trophy from David Stern, something Stern was secretly thanking god for.

Now comes news that Mark Cuban will be covering the parade expenses in Dallas. The route is tentatively set to go from Dallas City Hall to American Airlines Arena. So far, no date has been set, and could very well slip into next week.

ESPN reports that Cuban, owner of the 2011 NBA champions, is going to foot the bill for the upcoming parade.

Cuban is playing everything correctly so far. He is following the playbook of a fan who happens to be insanely rich. That is fitting considering that he is merely a fan who has money, and that's a good thing.

It was a welcomed sight to see an owner in jeans and a t-shirt celebrate court side. This is a game, after all. It is time we have an owner that acts like it.
