The weekend saw Liverpool continue to pervade the transfer market with targets.
As rumors piled higher and higher for the Merseysiders, the performance of their newest signing, Jordan Henderson, in his weekend match for the England U21's showed they are pushing for signings in the right direction.
As the dust settles from the first signing, it is now all the more expected for the Reds to start locking up new names in the next several weeks.
Gaël Clichy is still in the rumor mill, as is Stewart Downing, who continues to be linked because of Kenny Dalglish's apparent belief that he will fit in well with the squad.
Spain international and Villareal winger Santiago Cazorla reappeared in the rumor talk for Liverpool, having had a brief time in the news as a Reds target in January.
The Reds also seem to be searching for an experienced keeper to be Pepe Reina's No. 2, as was seen with Liverpool's interest in Tottenham-bound Brad Friedel and Roma's Alexander Doni.
However you look at it, the Reds are trying to rebuild a squad and have already gotten a jump start on many teams this summer.

Liverpool's Damien Camolli is still looking to secure a move for Stewart Downing at the 26-year old is still believed to be a primary target of the Reds as they hunt for new wide players. This mornings resurfacing of Santiago Cazorla interest could be another move by the Reds to call attention away from Downing.
With a desperate need for more width the Reds could also possibly go in for both players as it is already apparent that the owners are willing to spend with the move already completed for Jordan Henderson late last week.

A host of teams including Liverpool, Newcastle Untied, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Tottenham are all reported to be in the running for Ivory Coast Forward Gervinho.
The Ivory Coast international continues to be closed lipped about his future telling skysports.com that:
"I have already made myself clear enough. Things will be sorted out sooner or later, I want to enjoy my summer."
It will be the next few weeks most likely before we see what happens with the striker, but he is believed to be on the lookout for UEFA Champions League action and that may very well decide his future almost entirely for him.

Roma's Alexander Doni continues to be speculated as a possible new arrival to Anfield. A recent Sky Sports interview with Reds Hungarian keeper Peter Gulacsi reveals that Liverpool are indeed on the hunt for an experienced back up for Pepe Reina.
Doni was mentioned in the news last week as a target for The Reds and the comments made by Liverpool's young shot stopper have further pushed up the level of transfer expectations. Gulacsi stated:
"The club said they rely on me for a long period and it made me very proud. But they added if I go then a seasoned goalkeeper may arrive at the club, which is understandable.
"The best way for me to improve is to play regularly. I don't know where I will play but talks are going well. I have offers from England and also from outside of England. I hope within 10 days or two weeks it will be a fact where I will continue my career - on loan."
"I had a fruitful time at Tranmere last year, I played 16 games. Then I went back to Liverpool in December and I sat on the bench on 19 Premier League games and on four Europa League games."
With Brad Jones also not favored it is still looking like Doni could make the switch from Italy to the United Kingdom.

Villareal and Spain attacker Santiago Cazorla is again a hot name in the press for the Liverpool Reds. The Metro and General Press are both on top of the subject as the Reds continue to search for a new winger.
Cazorla put in a great performance for Spain in their recent friendly against the United States, and he continues to be linked with a move away from the Yellow Submarine.
If the Spaniard does sign, it could mean that Stewart Downing isn't in the cards for the Reds. His release clause is reported at £28million but if he indicates he wants to leave it is believed an offer in the £18million range could be enough to prompt his sale.
