Emmanuel Adebayor has struggled to fit in with Manchester City ever since Arsenal sent him packing two years ago, to the point that even Adebayor himself understands and would prefer a move, ideally to Real Madrid.

Those sentiments were stoked this past season, when Adebayor scored eight goals after joining Los Blancos on loan back in January.

According to Yahoo! Sports, that experience, combined with the scant likelihood that City manager Roberto Mancini will find much use for Adebayor in his plans for the team, now has Adebayor telling those around him that he is "prepared to wait until the last minute of the window on August 31."

And while the need for a player of Adebayor's ability may not be a pressing need for Madrid, who captured the Copa del Rey last season but are still playing catch-up with La Liga rival Barcelona, Adebayor certainly has plenty of supporters at Bernabeu who would like to see him join them on a more permanent basis.

Adebayor sounded confident that there would be a strong effort made to move him to Madrid, saying:

"Mourinho told me he will do everything to bring me back and I am optimistic that a deal can be done. For me, Real are everything. I love the club. On my last day working with the club, my team-mates demanded that I be brought back for next season. That was incredible. I don't believe that Manchester City will create any problems and will be happy to sell. I don't think I am of interest to coach Roberto Mancini."

Unfortunately for Adebayor, his chances of landing with Los Blancos likely depend on whether or not Jose Mourinho is able to coax over Santos forward Neymar and/or Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero, though most signs right now point to Neymar remaining in Brazil for at least another season, if not longer.
