US Open Golf 2011 Previews Matt Kuchar's Chances at the Congressional Country Club

Matt Kuchar has really come on in the past couple of years and is finally beginning to maximize his potential.

Kuchar is an 11-year professional, but has never won a major and never finished in the top five at any major event.  His best finish ever in a major was at the 2010 US Open, when he came in sixth place.

After ten years on the PGA Tour, he finally emerged as a contender last year.  He was the leading money winner in 2010 and also won both the Vardon Trophy (Leader in scoring average) and Byron Nelson Award (lowest adjusted scoring average).

Expecting him to win the US Open may be a bit too much to ask of a player that has never finished in the top five after spending 11 years on the PGA Tour.  However, he has really found his stride in the past year and could really become a factor at this year's Open.

Come Father's Day, it would not be much of a shock if Kuchar was making a push to win the event in such a wide-open field.
