Barcelona Transfer News: Barca's Comments on Cesc Fabregas Don't Match Reality
All offseason, Barcelona has done nothing but talk.
Talk doesn't sign players in the transfer window, yet the Spanish giants have acted that way, constantly commenting about Cesc Fabregas without the money to back up any of their grandiose statements.
As the end of the transfer window approaches, Barcelona has come up empty-handed in the open market, but it hasn't stopped the talk.
Per Sky Sports:
"This year Arsenal has agreed to negotiate and we are working on it," Guardiola said.
"Barcelona has made an offer, Arsenal another and we have time until August 31 and we'll try to reach an agreement.
"It is easier for Cesc in this way because he fits the template, but I know these things cannot always be done."
He added that the club have enough money to sign both Fabregas and Sanchez.
"The club has saved money to try to sign him," he said.
"We will try until the end try to bring him. I hope that eventually everything can be arranged. But sometimes things cannot be done.
"We will fight to the end to try to get Cesc because we believe he will improve the team and the squad."
If Barca really is going to fight to the end, it's time to open up the wallet and stop posturing.
All Barcelona has done is talk, and it's become quite sad at this stage of the game.
Fabregas is one of the top midfielders in the world, yet the club has constantly avoided doing what it takes to force Arsenal's hand.
Arsene Wenger has made it clear that he has a set price for his captain, and all of the club's talk has done nothing but stoke the fires of a budding rivalry.
It is no way to conduct business, and it's no shock that Barca has ended up frustrating their supporters with a lack of action in the transfer window.
Guardiola can say whatever he wants, but he and the club's actions show their true intentions, and it has become obvious that Barcelona has no plan to bid what Arsenal wants for Fabregas.
The club's desperate attempt to save face isn't going to win over many fans of the sport.
