WWE News: Will WWE Use Zack Ryder's New Championship on Television?
The Internet Wrestling Community has been waiting months for Vince McMahon and WWE to give Zack Ryder, the IWC's new favorite wrestler, a television push that will showcase his wit and personality. Whether or not the push actually happens remains to be seen, but he is being featured more on house shows. WWE has even given him a new "title" to use on the overseas tour that is going on right now.
According to reports, Ryder has been defending the Internet championship belt against Primo Colon. It is an actual belt that WWE has created specifically for him. It's a funny concept, though it's not exactly the real push that fans have been wanting for him.
Just as a refresher, Ryder has become the Internet's favorite wrestler when a series of YouTube videos popped up with him just riffing on anything that he wanted to. He showed off a personality and charisma the likes of which we never saw from him when he was on television with Edge and Curt Hawkins.
So will this "championship" turn into a real thing that gets defended on television?
While it would be fun to see something like that, the answer is going to be a resounding "no." McMahon is doing this not because he thinks it's a good idea, but as a rib on both Ryder and the IWC.
Despite what he says, McMahon does keep tabs on the internet gossip, not that he ever listens to it (nor should he), and this is his way of just taking a shot at all of those people that think that he cares about Ryder or them.
Plus, just creating a title called the Internet Championship sounds cartoony and really devalues all of the other championships in the process. Think about it, the more belts you have, the less important that they all seem.
