Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has announced on his Facebook page that he will fight Victor Ortiz this September 17th.

The undefeated Mayweather (41-0-0) will put his record on the line for the WBC Welterweight title against the exciting and explosive Ortiz (29-2-2), who is coming off an impressive win against the previously undefeated Andre Berto.

A win for either fighter would likely bring about speculation that they are the next in line to fight Manny Pacquiao.  While Mayweather has balked at that fight in the past, the mere fact that he is getting back in the ring gives hope once again that the super-fight could be made to happen.

On the other hand, there is little doubt that Ortiz would take the fight, which would pit two impressive sluggers against one another.
