New York Yankees: Will the Yankees Keep Division Lead After Red Sox Series?
Will the New York Yankees Sweep the Boston Red Sox?
The New York Yankees are currently in first place of the American League East division. They have a one game lead over their most hated rival, the Boston Red Sox.
The two teams will meet in New York this week to fight for the division lead. Will the Yankees hold on? Or will the Red Sox use their momentum to take first place?
Both teams will be using their two best pitchers in the series, but the key to this series is all about the offense.
The Red Sox are currently on a three game win streak. They swept the Oakland Athletics, and Boston will use that momentum to help them defeat the Yankees.
One has to wonder how much the MLB investigation of Alex Rodriguez will affect his play this series. Rodriguez was a pitiful 2-for-10 in the series against the Los Angeles Angles. The Yankees will need him to step it up this series or else they will be in trouble.
I don't believe either team will sweep the series. Thursday is sure to be the best of the three games because it will be Josh Beckett vs. C.C. Sabathia.
In the end I give the nod to the Red Sox in this series. They'll take the division lead because their offense if finally picking up.
One thing I wish we could see in this series is for Derek Jeter to get hit No. 3,000. He currently sits at 2,986, and it is very unlikely he will reach the big milestone. It would have been great for Jeter to hit No. 3,000 against Boston because of their historic rival.
