MTV Movie Awards 2011: Live Coverage of Red Carpet, Winners and Gossip
Ladies and gentleman seeking all things MTV Movie Awards, please look no further.
With the highly-anticipated award ceremony set to take place this Sunday, June 5 beginning at 9:00 PM EST, we have just two full days left until we all get everything that we could possibly want.
But this in-flight entertainment will not be navigated with just one pilot at the helm.
I will be working with esteemed Pop Culture Featured Columnist Timothy Rapp, who has been described by his close friends as a cigar aficionado, the actual most interesting man in the world, and Fonzie's mentor.
Clearly, we make up quite the dynamic duo.
The two of us will be on top of live coverage from the red carpet (so you know what all of your favorite stars are wearing), award winners (get ready for a lot of surprises) and all of the gossip that goes on all night long.
It's pretty excellent that MTV has decided to give Jason Sudeikis the nod as the host of the show considering his incredible work as a Saturday Night Live veteran, and he should do quite well on the big stage.
We can't all be writers, ya know? Someone has to do the dirty work.
While we certainly can't make any promises about how the awards will play out, we fully ensure that you won't find better coverage anywhere else on the web. Plus, you can check for constant updates without bothering to refresh, because we'll automatically update it for you.
So sit back, relax and enjoy the show. And by show, I'm obviously talking about what is going to be said right here. But feel free to enjoy the MTV Movie Awards as well.
An “Easy A” and some popcorn to boot.
In easily the weakest crop of nominees on the evening, Emma Stone won Best Comedic Performance for “Easy A,” beating Adam Sandler (“Just Go With It”), Ashton Kutcher (“No Strings Attached”), Russell Brand (“Get Him to the Greek”), and Zach Galifianakis (“Due Date”).
“Easy A” was an awful movie, though it wasn’t Stone’s fault, and she probably deserved this award actually, given a fairly weak crop of performances.
Frankly, her parents in the movie (Patricia Clarkson and Stanley Tucci) totally stole the show, and should probably be given a move all their own.

Not gonna lie, I thought Russell Brand would take this home, as in my opinion, “Get Him to the Greek” was the funniest movie represented here. Plus, don’t the ladies love his charming accent?
Because I sort of wish I had his accent.
I have an additional comedy award for MTV to add for next year’s show: Best Comedy Sequel that Uses the Same Exact Jokes as the First Film.
I’m looking at you, “Hangover 2.”
A roundup of notable highlights from the 2011 MTV Movie Awards...
Let's make no mistake about it, there were definitely some high points and some low points in tonight's MTV Movie Awards, but we're here to focus on the positive.
I thought things might get a little stale when we first started off, but things smoothed out as the evening progressed forward.
One of the brightest moments of the evening was undoubtedly the exchange of passion between Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake that was executed flawlessly, but they can't all be spicy like that.

Best Dressed: Jim Carrey. What else would you expect from this guy, seriously? If you know anything about Jim Carrey, it's that he leaves his imprint ont he show.
Best Moment: Gary Busey's award presentation. They obviously saved this for last for a very special reason, and Busey delivered with a home run in the show's final moments.
Best Joke: Reese Witherspoon. After Pattinson was quick to drop the f-bomb on Witherspoon, she fired right back with a heavy loaded MF cannon of her own.
Best Usage of a Modest Mouse Sample: Lupe Fiasco. That's probably pretty obvious, but it's just another way we're saying best performer here.
Best premiere that was leaked hours earlier on the Internet: Twilight's Breaking Dawn Trailer. This thing was available before the show started, which kind of killed the suspense.
Best Jason Sudeikis stage joke: Lady Gaga's Bedroom. Way to start it off with a bang, Jason.
And the show could've gone all night, but it had to come to an end. At least Lady Gaga can go to sleep now.
Not gonna lie, I too want to get chocolate wasted.
Uber-cute Alexys Nycole Sanchez took home the award for Best Line From a Movie for her quote from “Grown Ups,” “I want to get chocolate wasted.
After seeing her speech, I totally get why people voted her for the victory—she is awesome.

My favorite was Justin Timberlake's delivery of the following quote from the Social Network:
"...A million dollars isn't cool. You know what's cool?"
"You?"
"A billion dollars. And that shut everybody up."
Here are a few original quotes from yours truly about the movies nominated for Best Line From a Movie Award.
“Easy A”—Why did you let me do it, Redbox? WHY? This movie hurt my brain!
“The Social Network”—I sort of want to punch Sean Parker now.
“Inception”—Thanks to “Inception,” I now carry a top around with me everywhere. And I stay away from train tracks. And old elevators really give me the creeps.
And I’m spent.
Is Reel Steal stealing for real?
After watching the trailer for Reel Steel, they might as well re-name this upcoming film as one of my favorite childhood toys.
I mean, really, have you seen this thing? Sometimes I can't even believe some of the decisions that are made on the silver screen, but it's pretty incredible that this is coming to life.
Did you ever play with these things as a kid? You know, the ones that you can see right here?

I'm pretty sure I would have more fun playing with my action figures than seeing this movie that's predicated on them, but perhaps that's just me.
I only hope that the future of robot movies aren't going to be as lame as this, because "Transformers" certainly didn't endure any shortage of creativity when it debuted.
It should be interesting to see long this film's legs really are once it gets underway.
Somehow, Pattinson even steals Witherspoon’s show.
Whoa!
I was going to write about Reese Witherspoon being presented with the Generation Award, but then Pattinson dropped this bomb:
"I didn't cut you out of the movie...but I did (expletive removed) you."

Wowza.
Pattionson’s “ad lib” was all at once goofy, awkward, and inappropriate. It was sort of awesome, actually.
But it was sort of fun watching Witherspoon’s career highlights, which I’m fairly certain are comprised of the same coy look and kissing scene shot 4,763 times.
Plus, who doesn’t love seeing the “Reese Witherspoon girly hissy fit” being shown over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over…
Sorry, I blacked out for a second there.
I did enjoy Witherspoon’s retort to Pattinson, telling him the punch line of his joke about having a sex scene with her should have gone as follows:
“You’re the best mother (expletive removed) in Hollywood.”
Well played, Witherspoon. Well played indeed. And congratulations on the award, which of course is MTV’s way of saying, “You’re kind of old now, but just young enough to be funny about this.”
And “Twilight” fights on.
So Robert Pattinson takes home the popcorn for “Best Fight,” defeating Amy Adams battling the Ward/Eklund sisters (“The Fighter”), Chloë Moretz vs. Mark Strong (“Kick-Ass”), Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint vs. The Death Eaters (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part I”), and Joseph Gordon Levitt doing battle in the hallway, without gravity (“Inception”).
Gotta say, I was pulling for Gordon Levitt on this one, because that scene was shot beautifully.
But yeah, there was a “Twilight” fight—we all knew which way that would go.

I’ve got to say, the sisters versus Amy Adams fight in “The Fighter” was pretty awesome as well—I wouldn’t cross any of those ladies.
I would have gotten this story out faster, but I just saw some man-on-man kissing action between Robert Pattinson and Taylor Taylor Lautner, and now I’m confused and slightly disturbed.
Aren’t they on different teams? What is going on?
Everything I thought I knew has just changed. Vampires and werewolves kissing?
I’ll never be the same.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are champions again.
Although many might have been hoping for a different outcome, there wasn't any denying these two the crown.
Stewart and Pattinson took home the award for Best Kiss, and considering the "Twilight" theme that we've experienced thus far, it's hardly surprising.
Pattinson is clearly the standout performer of the evening thus far, garnering a major deal of attention and highlighting the award show.

Some thought that the long-rumored romance would finally be on full display when the two won the award, but Pattinson went for a different feel.
He ran into the crowd and gave a smooch to co-star Taylor Lautner rather than laying on Kristen Stewart, and instead said that he'd take Stewart back stage.
Could this add fuel to the fire that the two are romantically involved? I guess only time will tell.

Making Beliebers (ugh) of us all.
So Justin Bieber took home the award for most “Jaw-Dropping Moment, defeating James Franco cutting his arm off (“27 Hours”), the world exploding as Leonardo DiCaprio sits with Ellen Page (“Inception”), Natalie Portman ripping off skin (“Black Swan”), and Steve-O doing what Steve-O pretty much always does (“Jackass 3D”).
And then Bieber “shocked” everyone by making an appearance to accept the award, as Danny McBride, Aziz Ansari and Nick Swardson pretended like he wasn’t coming.
Big ups to Aziz Ansari for the “Karate Kid” outfit, by the way—he looked ridiculous.
MUST READ: 2011 MTV Movie Awards Winners, Red Carpet & More
But seriously—how does Bieber get the award over a guy cutting his arm off in the movie about the true story based on a guy who actually cut his arm off? I mean, when I saw that, it was pretty jaw-dropping.
Sigh. I feel like an old man right now, blabbering on about the injustices of the world and all of the unnecessary changes that taken place since the days of my youth.
And yes, I did walk to school barefoot in the snow, uphill both ways.
I just texted while I did it.
Draco Malfoy casts his spell on voters.
Tom Felton took home the award for best villain, defeating Christoph Waltz (“The Green Hornet”), Leighton Meester (“The Roommate”), Mickey Rourke (“Iron Man 2”), and Ned Beatty (“Toy Story 3”).
Not going to lie, I was definitely pulling for Ned Beatty—Lotso was a great villain. Sucked you in by making you think he had created an idealistic community, was all pink and soft-looking, and next thing you know, BAM!—totally evil bear that was keeping all of the good stuff for himself.
MUST READ: 2011 MTV Movie Awards Winners, Red Carpet & More
That’s a good villain.
But honestly, is anyone surprised that the “Harry Potter” villain won here? Honestly, this night is going to be “Team Twilight” versus “Team Potter.” Heck, it was even trending on Twitter leading up to the show.
And if it is trending on Twitter, you know it is going to dominate the MTV Movie Awards.
By the way, that last sentence just won the “Sentence that Wouldn’t Have Made a Lick of Sense 20 Years Ago” award.
We haven't seen Amanda Bynes in a while.
It's been a while since "The Amanda Show" could be found hitting the airwaves regularly, and even longer since "All That" was at the top of the ratings, but Bynes saw remarkable success at an early age in a sound acting career.
She was caught on camera at the 2011 Movie Awards on Sunday night, but she was looking a bit different than most might have remembered.
She's a hot topic on Twitter right now, and it's pretty amazing that less than three seconds of camera time got her back in the mix so quickly.

Seeing her face definitely sparked some childhood memories for me, so do any of you remember these classic Nick shows like I do?
Rocket Power: Woogady is all I've got to say.
Rocko's Modern Life: Does anyone have a dog that looks like Spunky?
Are you Afraid of the Dark: I used to be before I stopped watching the show.
Wild & Crazy Kids: Come on, who didn't like this show?
All That: Because we are talking about Amanda, after all.
Sudeikis rocks the opener.
On the show’s stage arrangement: “Coming to you live from Lady Gaga’s bedroom, apparently.”
On his movie “Hall Pass”: “The highest-grossing move in America on February 26th from 1 to 4 PM.”
On MTV: “MTV stands for music television, for those of you who forgot. I’m talking to you, MTV executives.”
The true acronym for MTV? “More Twilight Victories”

Sudeikis on which “Twilight” star he would choose: “My heart says Jacob. But my wiener says Edward. My balls are indifferent.”
On Award slights: “How did Human Centipede not get nominated for best kiss?”
On the newest movie Arnold Schwarzenegger should make: “Pumping the Ironer.”
On the cast of “Jersey Shore”: “They’re in Italy right now, embarrassing us all.”
On Snooki: “Snooki was rear-ended, this time by a car.”
If Sudeikis keeps bringing it like this, the show tonight will certainly be a lot of fun. 15 minutes in, and I’m already having a good time.
Stay tuned!
MTV is running some brief updates on their own from the Red Carpet, and I thought it might be fun to include some of my favorite / most important nuggets from behind the scenes.
8:49 Hearing rumors Robert Pattinson skipped the red carpet. 10 minutes until go-time and we have yet to see him.
Girls and women alike are shrieking—yes, shrieking—at this news. Horrifying.
8:48 Emma Roberts just strolled through the backstage area followed by Andrew Garfield walking with Danny McBride. Interesting pairing...
I would like to hang out with Emma Roberts and Danny McBride. How about I take your place, Garfield?

8:45 Correction! Biggest reaction so far goes to Ms. Kristen Stewart!
Uh, yeah—she’s worthy of a reaction.
8:38 Gary Busey is here. That is all.
God, I love the Busey. Totally off his rocker.
Finally, the show is upon us. Given the “Hangover 2” spoof opener, I think it is going to be a whole lot of fun tonight. Stay tuned.
Eva Mendes was a great choice to feature in the first few minutes of the MTV Movie Awards.
You know it's going to be a good show when Eva Mendes is featured in the first few minutes, but the opening of the 2011 MTV Movie Awards got off to an even bigger bang.
Moments after leaving Mendes' side, Sudeikis found himself bedside next to some very intense girl-on-girl action that lended itself to moments of very intense viewership.
On a mission for "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner, Sudeikis interacted with characters from some of the nominated films, issuing a back and forth conversation.
MUST READ: 2011 MTV Movie Awards Winners, Red Carpet & More
Sudeikis got a little rocky when he tried to play the Bieber card on Selena Gomez, but that moment blew over quickly when the comic realized that wasn't playing all that well.
He hasn't been afraid to stray away from the jokes about Arnold Schwarzenegger, and all of the recent news associated with him, but that isn't exactly surprising.
There are going to be a lot of peaks and valleys throughout the show, so keep it locked and we'll keep you posted just like we've promised.

“He threw up this morning”
Sway managed to catch up with Charlie Day, he of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” fame, and Jason Batemen, he who is simply one of the funniest, most underrated actors out there.
The two were asked how they thought Sudeikis—their co-star in the upcoming flick “Horrible Bosses”—would do as a host of the Movie Awards.
Day cracked that Sudeikis wouldn’t be very good, adding “he threw up this morning.” Batemen chimed in, saying if he didn’t do well, it might be bad for the movie’s box office earnings.

I’ve got to say, if “Horrible Bosses” stars these three and doesn’t manage to be hilarious, something very, very wrong happened in the making of the film.
Or the script just sucked, and each made a bad career move.
Reportedly, Jennifer Aniston shot a topless scene for the flick, which may or may not be included in the film.
Color me intrigued.

You can now find Taylor Lautner on Facebook.
Taylor Lautner is now officially on Facebook, so I'm fairly certain the already very popular social network will see its traffic spike through the roof tonight.
In an interview on the red carpet, Lautner said that he is officially on Facebook and looks forward to interacting with his fans.
"Add me as a friend," said Lautner.
MUST READ: 2011 MTV Movie Awards Winners, Red Carpet & More
What's new, Taylor Lautner? Well before it was "Twilight", it was all about Scooby Doo.
Back in 2005, that's what Lautner was working on before he launched his budding career on the silver screen as he played Dennis/Ned in the television series.
Clearly, he's come a long way, because I don't see Shaggy slobbering down the carpet alongside with him.
He really made an impression with his inaugural performance in the first "Twilight" film, and all of his fans are hoping that the second time around is just as good as the original.
Regardless of his performance in the sequel, I'd have a hard time imagining that some of his fans are going to be really evaluating his acting skills rather than just staring at him on the screen.
