Liverpool's offseason has already been rife with changes to manager Kenny Dalglish's roster. With new signings Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam coming in, backup goalkeeper Doni likely to join in the coming days, and a deal for winger Stewart Downing still being ironed out, things are getting awfully crowded at Anfield.

Therefore, the club has begun wheeling and dealing to rid themselves of aging reserves or overpaid squad players, in an effort to cut down on the already sizable payroll on the books. On Tuesday, the Reds dealt flop defender Paul Konchesky to Leicester in a £1.5 million deal, but Dalglish and the Reds aren't done dealing yet.

According to a Mirror Football report, disappointing forward Milan Jovanovic is likely to be joining Konchesky on the way out the door. The Serbian forward bombed in his tenure at the Kop last season, failing to make much of an impact and seldom seeing the pitch once Dalglish took the helm. He arrived in a free transfer deal from Standard Leige, but failed to live up to his previous level of success, scoring just 2 goals in 18 appearances.

Now, with Anderlicht and Lille both looking long and hard at the 30-year-old striker, it would appear that a move is imminent. He remains a fairly talented player despite his abject failure at Anfield, capable of finding the net on a fairly regular basis. He brings good size and pace to the table and can be an excellent finisher in the air or with his feet, even if he was unable to show it last season.

The move would further clear up what is becoming a wild salary situation for Liverpool. With so many disappointing players being paid obscenely high wages, the Reds need to clear some of the dead weight off the books in a fairly timely fashion, and Jovanovic's departure would be a major help in that department.

But, that same salary that Liverpool are trying to dump is also keeping the 30-year-old Serbian at Anfield at the moment. None of the clubs who have shown an active interest in grabbing the striker have been terribly keen on taking his £120,000-per-week salary, given his age and struggles last season with Liverpool, and it has proven to be quite a stumbling block in the deal-making process.

In the end, though, look for a deal to get done here. It's time for Jovanovic to move on from Anfield, and even with his obscene salary, he's a talented player who should contribute much more regularly than he did for Liverpool last season. While it's unclear where he'll wind up next season, someone is likely to take a chance on him and hope he can recapture the form that brought him to Liverpool in the first place. It might take another week or two, but look for Liverpool to get more dead weight salary off their books sooner rather than later.
