Phillies/Rays...Who?
The World Series starts tonight between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays. No one is going to be watching this 104th fall classic, and the reasons are simple:
1. Boring- This series will be a boring one to watch.
2. No Rivalry- These two teams have played each other 15 times in the 11 years the Rays have been in the AL.
3. Regular Season- To people outside of Philadelphia and Tampa bay this will be nothing but a regular season match-up.
4. Hopeful- Sports fans around the world were hopeful to see Manny playing at the Fen once again. Which makes no reason, in there opinion, to watch the world series.
5. History- In the 11 year history of the Rays, there are no huge moments against the Phillies.
Those are the reasons why this will be the lowest World Series ratings yet.
The chance of the Tampa Bay Rays going to the World Series was very slim. Most of the experts didn't expect this team to win any more than 70 games this year, yet alone make the playoffs. They won almost 30 more games then expected. This is the first year, in its 11 years as a MLB team, it has been in playoffs. With the talent this team has it will not be a surprise if they find themselves in this same spot next year.
The Chance of the Philadelphia Phillies making the world wasn't as much of a long shot. They were expected to be the wild card team and lose in the National League Division Series. The last time this team was in the World Series was 1993. They did not win that year. Thirteen years earlier, in 1980 they won the World Series. That's the only time in the 104 year fall classic history they have won it.
