Cyber Sunday: What The ECW Title Match Has To Offer
Cyber Sunday is this weekend and the fans get to pick certain matches and stipulations. It is the most interactive wrestling show of the year. From all of the backstage reports, the votes are legit, and the fans do get to pick the matches. Which means that we are the only ones responsible for any bad match ups that may occur.
This leads me to one match where the champions opponent can be pick by us; The ECW World Heavyweight Championship. Matt Hardy will be defending against either Finlay, Evan Bourne, or Mark Henry. Here's a quick break down of what to expect depending on who gets picked.
Finlay: A Matt Hardy versus Finlay match may actually prove to be very uneventful. Finlay has a very smash mouth style that could work with Hardy but the new kid friendly Finlay is being held back too much to put on a match of the night contender. The shillelagh will come into play and it will be interesting to see how the fans react to it because of the huge following that Hardy has.
I can't imagine that now is the time for Finlay to walk around with the title and would expect him to job to Hardy. This would give Hardy a good win over a seasoned veteran and elevate him higher than he already is.
Evan Bourne: If this match gets voted in, this will easily be the match of the night. Hardy has already expressed his interest on his myspace page that this is the match that he wants. Bourne obviously would want a championship match as well and when two wrestlers get together that are really excited to work with each other, they usually put on the best match.
I figure that this match would be very fast paced with Hardy being the first person to avoid the Shooting Star Press before retaining his title. There is no way that Evan Bourne could win this match.
Mark Henry: If the fans pay attention, this is the match that the WWE wants. It would be a rematch and continue the feud between the two, but it's starting to get a little stale. It would be just like all the other matches where Henry dominates the entire time and Hardy hits the Twist of Fate at the end to retain.
The WWE has been pushing this match the most between the three men. Hopefully, the fans will let this feud cool down a bit and allow someone else to main event.
In the end, Matt Hardy will be walking away with the title no matter who he fights. I'm predicting that Evan Bourne will win the vote but if Mark Henry gets picked, it wouldn't surprise me. Sadly, I don't think that Finlay will get more than 12%.
Stranger things have happened at Cyber Sunday. Last year, The Miz was picked to fight C.M. Punk while he was in the middle of a feud with John Morrison. This vote is what sky rocketed The Miz's career. Hopefully it will do the same for Evan Bourne.
