Alex Burrows is a biter, and shame on him for that.

I am always amazed when athletes resort to biting. There is something so lame about it all. It is like a last ditch effort when you just want to do anything to hurt someone, even giving up your man card.

Burrows may have given up more than his man card in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals pitting the Boston Bruins and against the Vancouver Canucks.

In the first period, Alex Burrows and Patrice Bergeron became entangled in some shoving. As a referee tried to maintain order, Burrows took one of Bergeron's digits and chomped on it.

Bergeron took exception. Wouldn't you? And pleaded with the official after the incident that his finger had been bitten.

For one night, Burrows had gotten away with biting. The official had not seen the incident. The is not where this chapter ends. You can bet the league will see the ubiquitous video and suspend Burrows for at least a game.

In what has turned out to be a hard-hitting affair, the Canucks will certainly miss Burrows on the ice. Game one becomes ever more important for Vancouver.
