Brock Lesnar vs. JDS, TUF 13 on Spike TV: Tony Ferguson vs. Chuck O'Neil, Rd. 1
Tale of the tape says Chuck O’Neil has an inch reach advantage, which is more bad news for a dude who already seems to prefer striking. I’m rooting for him and he’s a tough SOB, but it’s hard to see any way to victory for Cold Steel in this bout.
But a fight is a fight and anything can happen so...
And so far, you have to like Chuck’s chances.
He’s losing the first round, but it’s a much closer affair than it looked on paper. Cold Steel is giving almost as good as he’s getting; if he had the same power as Tony Ferguson, this bout could be a dead heat. The problem is, of course, Tony has a substantial advantage as far as force is concerned so—even when they trade shots—Ferguson looks like he’s getting the better of his adversary (and he is).
Additionally, Team Lesnar’s top dog is mixing his arsenal better, using a particularly effective inside leg kick that is savaging O’Neil’s front leg.
Regardless, both hombres are finding pay dirt with jabs and combinations while eschewing any pretense of a ground game. Call it 10-9 for Ferguson as Cold Steel’s left leg is beginning to be cause for concern.
As is Tony’s jab...uh oh.
