Bono: Oilers' Gilbert Brule Picks Up Hitchhiking Bono
Edmonton Oilers' Gilbert Brule Picks Up Bono in Weird Course of Events
Let me tell you a tale of horror and fright. One day, Glibert Brule of Edmonton Oilers was traveling along a winding West Vancouver road.
That is when he decided to pick up a strange hitchhiker. It turns out the hitchhiker was none other than...Bono. Okay, that might only be scary to folks don't consider themselves U2 fans. I think it's pretty amazing.
According to a report filed by the Edmonton Journal, Gilbert Brule and girlfriend, Kelsey Nichols. were driving along with their German shepherd in West Vancouver.
That is when Brule swore that he had just seen the famous rock star Bono. Nichols was of course incredulous. After what I am sure was some debate, the couple picked up a pair of wet stranglers.
It turned out to be Bono and his assistant. They were out for a stroll and got caught in some weather. The four talked a bit about Brule's career and Bono's affinity for Vancouver.
He rewarded the couple with tickets and backstage passes to his Edmonton show. The couple quickly sold their Stanley Cup tickets and flew to Edmonton for the show.
The morale of the story is to never ever pick up a hitchhiker, unless that hitchhiker happens to be a famous rock star.
That concluded this edition of the weird tales in sports.
