Sylvester Stallone's 'Rocky' Gets Made into Musical

Please tell me what you really want out of life. I hope to hell that it's getting the legendary movie Rocky made into a Broadway musical.

I just made the day of a very specific group of individuals. The word is that best boxing movie to ever grace the big screen will be made into a quaint Broadway musical.

According to YardBarker, Sylvester Stallone has been trying to get his famed movie Rocky made into a musical since 2003. That wish has gained a great deal of traction in the last few weeks.

The reports states that this is no nickel and dime musical either. Tony Award wining team Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty join forces with Thomas Meehan to deliver what should be a rousing success. Meehan has overseen such musicals as Hairspray, The Producers and Annie.

The production group met recently to go over the finer details. The initial plan is to have a production up and running in Germany by 2012, with a Broadway debut in 2013.

While the cast and orchestra plans to be small, the musical for me should be bigger than life. Even if they drain a small modicum of the original to the stage, it should be tremendously entertaining.

I have no idea how this will get done. I never saw Rocky as a musical, even on the tenth viewing. But I will leave my hopes in the hands of the experts. Here is to hoping they don't ruin the legacy of one of the best sport's movies in history.
