NBA Finals 2011: Most Talent Ever on the Same Floor?
Last year, the NBA Finals featured Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. All four of those players are headed to the Hall of Fame.
It also featured Ron Artest, Pau Gasol and Rajon Rondo who may end their careers on the bubble for a Hall of Fame appearance.
This year, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd are not just sure fire Hall-of-Fame players, they are in the conversation of top-five all time at their position. For James and Dirk, they are being compared left and right to Michael Jordan and Larry Bird.
Even guys like Mike Bibby, Peja Stojakovic and Shawn Marion have had superb careers. Probably not near Hall-of-Fame level, but they have definitely left their imprint on several franchises throughout their career.
Then you have Tyson Chandler, a great defensive center, Juwan Howard, an old man, but a successful career, and Jason Terry who has quietly had a really good career in Dallas.
JJ Barea may develop into a starter at some point in his career, Mario Chalmers is young and has his moments while Joel Anthony and Udonis Haslem have made names for themselves as defensive stoppers.
Mike Miller has been a marksman throughout his career, James Jones, who hasn’t even played yet in this series, won the 2011 Three-point Contest and Brendan Haywood would start at center for half the teams in this league.
The combination of current high level play, excellent careers and strong role players make this one of the highest levels of talent we’ve seen in the NBA Finals in a long long time.
