Week Eight Picks: Heavyweight Showdown

Week Eight has some big matchups against top tier teams in the NFL. Two big games are Pittsburgh and the NY Giants, as well as Monday night's Indianapolis vs. Tennessee.  These two games alone will be great games to watch.

Last week, I went 9-5, which is a bit better than the 7-7 that I went the week before.

Last week: 9-5

Overall: 34-23 (.596 win pct.)

Now on to Week Eight picks!

1. Tampa Bay (5-2) at Dallas (4-3)

Dallas is probably going to have to play another game without starting quarterback Tony Romo, and last week proved that even with a veteran backup they are still in trouble. I like Tampa Bay on the road.
BUCCANEERS 30 - COWBOYS 20

2. Washington (5-2) at Detroit (0-6)

Well this is as easy of a pick as any. Detroit is awful, and now they are without one of their top wideouts because of the trade with Dallas. Washington wins big.
REDSKINS 35 - LIONS 13

3. Buffalo (5-1) at Miami (2-4)

Buffalo is coming off a very good win against a very good San Diego team, and I look for them to continue their great start again this Sunday against the Miami.
BILLS 27 - DOLPHINS 12

4. St. Louis (2-4) at New England (4-2)

New England dominated on Monday night against a very formidable Denver team. St. Louis also pulled off a big win over a strong Dallas team. However, I do not see St. Louis doing it for a second straight week.
PATRIOTS 33 - RAMS 17

5. San Diego (3-4) at New Orleans (3-4)

Both of these teams are struggling a bit this year, and it is a big surprise to everyone due to the fact of how good of a team both are. I am going to take San Diego in this game, because I think they are just better than New Orleans as a whole.
CHARGERS 21 - SAINTS 17

6. Kansas City (1-5) at New York Jets (3-3)

Brett Favre has proved that he cannot carry a team on his shoulders, even if that team went out and spent a lot of money on good talent. Kansas City is just terrible, and now, this week, they will be without their star running back due to a one-game suspension. I'll take the NY Jets.
JETS 20 - CHIEFS 10

7. Atlanta (4-2) at Philadelphia (3-3)

Atlanta has been the surprise this year in the NFL, there is no doubt about that.  Philadelphia started off very strong but has been struggling since their win over Pittsburgh. I think they rebound this week though at home.
EAGLES 27 - FALCONS 23

8. Oakland (2-4) at Baltimore (3-3)

Oakland is having so many internal issues with their franchise it is hard to believe that they can even compete right now.  Baltimore needs a win this week, because a loss will more than likely push them out of an AFC North chance with Pittsburgh being (5-1).  Baltimore wins.
RAVENS 26 - RAIDERS 10

9. Arizona (4-2) at Carolina (5-2)

This should be a great NFC matchup of two good teams. Carolina came out on top last week with a dominating performance against New Orleans. Arizona is coming off a bye week which will help them in this game. However, I like Carolina at home in this game.
PANTHERS 30 - CARDINALS 27

10. Cleveland (2-4) at Jacksonville (3-3)

These two teams both have had a rough year so far. I am going to take Jacksonville because they are playing at home this week. Cleveland finds itself pretty much out of playoff contention after this week's loss.
JAGUARS 28 - BROWNS 17

11. Cincinnati (0-7) at Houston (2-4)

Cincinnati is just plain horrible. I have been saying this for who knows how many weeks now, and they just help in reiterating that point by not winning. Houston is not much better than Cincinnati, but they have found a way to at least get two wins. Cincinnati improves their chance at getting the first pick next year this Sunday.
TEXANS 23 - BENGALS 20

12. New York Giants (5-1) at Pittsburgh (5-1)

This is going to be a great game this Sunday evening. These two teams have proven that they deserve to be considered one of the top teams in the NFL. The game being played in Pittsburgh, which I think gives Pittsburgh the edge in this one. But it is going to be a hard-fought game. It will come down to whoever has the ball last.
STEELERS 27 - GIANTS 24

13. Seattle (1-5) at San Francisco (2-4)

Both teams are struggling to just get a win this season. San Francisco has just brought in a new head coach, Michael Singletary, and I think he will have his team ready to play. I will take San Francisco.
49ers 28 - SEAHAWKS 17

14. Indianapolis (3-3) at Tennessee (6-0)  MONDAY NIGHT
Indianapolis is in need for a win this Monday night, because without it, Tennessee pretty much has the division wrapped up, and Indianapolis will struggle greatly for a wild-card spot.

I do not think that they do this though, and Tennessee will prove that they are for real and pull away in the AFC South.
TITANS 30 - COLTS 23

Well, those are my picks for Week Eight of the NFL. I improved a little bit from last week, and hopefully I can improve by a few more games this week.
