Trade Jason Blake to the Penguins.
Can you imagine if Jason Blake played for a team like the Penguins? With the sinking ship in Toronto nowadays, a trade to Pittsburgh would be a slight possibility.
Blake currently is fifth in the league with shots on goal and last year he scored 40 goals.
With the possibly of Crosby and Malkin passing the puck to Blake, rather than the likes of Antropov and Ponikarovsky, maybe then Blake can repeat on a 40-goal season.
With the Pens in a playoff hunt and the trade deadline approaching, an offer for an All-American boy like Blake to the Leafs would be worth a shot.
Blake can also provide the much needed experience with the departure of Mark Reechi.
Blake is only 34-years-old, but on a youthful team like the Pens he would be the third oldest on the team just behind Gary Roberts and Darryl Sydor.
Don’t forget that Blake was an All-Star last season; this guy can do some damage.
The question is who do you trade for Blake?
The Leafs are going to want something worth their while.
Or maybe not.
This might be a time for the Penguins to take advantage of the Toronto mess.
All I know is if the Pens can steal a player like Jason Blake at the trade deadline, it’s game on baby!!!

The Leafs probably wouldn't give him away, no matter how desperate they are this season.
Blake has been snake bitten this year to say the least, but he as been better in the calender year of 2008, and is one of the few Maple Leafs who has been involved in every game.
In saying that, he could be had, but he certainly wouldn't go for next to nothing

A trade will probably never happend. I was just saying that is Blake was feed the puck by some "real" hockey players maybe he would have more goals. He got 40 with the Ils last season.

Pittsburgh won't sign Blake for one reason - "term"
They already have a problem with Malone, Malkin, Staal & Armstrong coming up on free agency. If there were to take on Blake's contract for the next 4 seasons it would mean letting one or two of those youngsters walk.
Pittsburgh is far more likely to target Sundin who they would not be locked into longterm but could help them with a Cup run in 2008 - which may encourage the youngsters to resign for cheap in 2009.
Sundin could pinch in for Crosby on the top line while he's hurt, and then play 2nd line in the playoffs alongside his buddy Gary Roberts.

Josh someone else another armchairGM suggested a trade of Sundin to the Pens, at first I didn;t think much of it. Watching Pens last night I thought what a great deal it could be for them if they didnt have to trade away future. Sundin and Roberts showed a chemistry in past. He is a veteran player, I think the cost would be too much for Pens though as I think they are more than a top six forward away from making real run at cup.

Blake and Antropov are going to Philly for Hatcher, Upshall and Carter. The Pens are screwed in the off-season and we all know how Crosby gets when he doesn't get his way, and at his age, should be scoring goals, not watching games in a suit! Will the Penguins fall by 2009 - I think we all know the answer - Buh Bye!

Im glad the Pens didnt play the Flyers in the first round. Only becuase they are a bunch of brainless idots looking to hurt good playes they will never be!! The age old question is who plays for Philly in net again? Biron or Echmanick? Is Nittymaki still in the league?
