Basketball Wives, Urban Meyer, Avril Lavigne and More Swagger News
With Jim Tressel's sudden resignation from Ohio State, the list of potential coaching candidates in the rumor mill is certain to be swirling feverishly.
There have already been some indications that Urban Meyer will attempt to be coaxed out of retirement and back into the game of football, which makes some sense considering that it's been repeatedly reported that the Ohio State head coaching position is his dream job.
But Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer aren't the only names making waves this week.

The Tampa Bay Rays have issued an apology on behalf of Avril Lavigne, because the infamous pop singer decided to deliver a slew of obscenities to the a crowd on hand to watch the Rays game this weekend.
According to TMZ, after Lavigne's microphone malfunctioned at the onset of her post-game concert in Tampa Bay, the performer came down rather harshly on a crowd that was booing her.
"Rays rep Rick Vaughn tells TMZ, 'The Rays demand profanity-free performances from all of our concert performers and we are extremely disappointed by the language used in last night's show. It is not consistent with the family-friendly atmosphere that Tropicana Field is known for.'"
Maybe Avril didn't realize that she'd upset so many with her mouth considering the things that are normally overheard at a baseball game, but typically the type of vocabulary she displayed is emanating from an inebriated crowd member.
Unfortunately for Avril, she was the featured performer in the concert scheduled for after the game.
Cameron Diaz won't be feeding any more popcorn to Alex Rodriguez.
After approximately a year of being nearly inseparable, New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez and Hollywood honey Cameron Diaz have reportedly broken up, according to FitPerez.
"They've broken up …. [and says Cameron is] hurt and betrayed, because she tried so hard to please him … She went overboard."
It's pretty interesting that A-Rod apparently couldn't even be satisfied by Cameron Diaz, and I wonder who he'll move on to next.
Although Diaz is reportedly pretty upset by the news, it doesn't appear that it's had a major toll on A-Rod, according to the New York Post.

Not only is A-Rod gallivanting around town like nothing happened, but he may have gotten a few interested ladies to hand out their phone numbers to him on Thursday night as well.
"On Thursday night, he joined athletes including Anna Kournikova, Venus Williams, Tim Hardaway and Brazilian race-car driver Helio Castroneves, plus Angie Harmon and Brooke Shields, for the opening of the JW Marriott Marquis Miami."
I guess a red-carpet roll out for a hotel opening is one way to get over a break-up, and I'm pretty sure most people wished they could cope with their relationship stress in the same manner as A-Rod.
Whatever lady winds up on A-Rod's arm next is going to face a ton of scrutiny considering how beautiful Cameron Diaz is, and if he takes a step back in the looks department, there are bound to be a lot of questions about his taste in females.
Premature jocularity by Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat?
When Dwyane Wade hit a corner three to put the team up by 15 points with just seven minutes remaining in the game, many might have changed the channel in anticipation of the game being over.
But in reality, this contest was far from complete, and the Mavericks used the celebration between D-Wade and LeBron as motivation to get back into the contest and completed the unthinkable by coming back from a seemingly insurmountable deficit and win the game 95-93.
Did Wade and LeBron celebrate a little bit too early in this one? We haven't seen that type of emotion from the two superstars as of late, so it may be better that they keep it in their back pocket moving forward.

It just goes to show you that nothing is impossible in today's NBA, especially when Dirk Nowitzki is playing on the opposite team.
According to the Star-Telegram, the Mavericks took notice, and Tyson Chandler was not happy.
"It was definitely frustrating when you’ve got a guy showboating in front of your bench with seven minutes left. I think it angered a lot of us. You say the game is not over. I don’t care what they say, the game is not over."
The Heat need to re-discover the intrinsic motivation that landed them in the finals if they plan to go into Dallas and snatch back home court advantage, because three straight games in the opponent's house is certainly no easy task.
It should really be interesting to see if the team displays on-court emotion at any point during a critical Game 3, but my bet is that they'll play it a little cooler in the hopes of ascertaining a victory.

Here are the times and schedules for the final four at the 2011 French Open.
Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic will square off at 11:00 AM EST on NBC Friday morning, the second men's match of the day after Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray began their contest at 8:00 AM EST.
The winner of the Nadal-Murray matchup will go to face the victor from the Federer vs. Djokovic contest, and any of the four competitive tennis players would make for an excellent final round on June 5 at 9:00 AM EST on NBC.
On the women's side, the final round has already been determined with Li Na of China taking on Francesca Schiavone of Italy in the championship round, and that matchup will be aired on June 4 at 9:00 AM EST, and can also be found on NBC.
The television schedule in its entirely can be found listed here, courtesy of the USTA.

Although the two players to reach the championship round on the female circuit certainly deserve to be there after playing outstanding tennis, it's a pretty big disappointment that Maria Sharapova wasn't able to advance to the finals after such a successful run.
Sharapova definitely brought in a huge number of casual tennis fans to the viewership audience, and it's likely that Saturday's French Open finale would've been more readily watched had she been a part of it.
For the men, it's going to be an epic battle in the final round, and it wouldn't be surprising to see an unstoppable Novak Djokovic knock off Roger Federer, but if he gets to the finals and has to play Mr. Nadal, it's going to be very tough to beat him.
So who's going to emerge as champion? I like both Li Na and Rafael Nadal to conclude the weekend hosting the trophy at Roland Garros, because both have looked downright dominant in the tournament.

Ricky Rubio is joining Kevin Love in Minnesota.
After two seasons of waiting and refusing to trade the highly touted international prospect, the Minnesota Timberwolves have finally reached an agreement to bring Ricky Rubio to the NBA.
First reported by Yahoo! Sports NBA guru Adrian Wojnarowski, the team and Rubio have settled on a two-year deal that will bring the international prospect to the United States.
"Rubio, the fifth pick in the 2009 NBA draft, has been playing for Regal Barcelona of the Spanish ACB League for the past two seasons. It’s likely that the deal won’t be announced until Rubio, 20, finishes his season in the Euroleague playoffs later this month."
Rubio turned pro at just 14 years old, so although he'll be a rookie when he takes the court for his first NBA game, it certainly won't be his first rodeo.

The extraordinarily gifted point guard really struggled in Euroleague this season, but despite his down year it certainly won't lessen the hype that surrounds him.
He is the biggest thing to happen to the Minnesota Timberwolves franchise in a long while, and it's good timing for a team that really needs a big lift.
Although it probably took longer than the team might have liked in order to lure him into town, mark this one as a major win in David Kahn's tenure with the team. He really needed to do something drastic to inject some energy into a downtrodden group of guys, and he did exactly that.
For all the T-Wolves fans that were clamoring to trade his rights when he refused to come, it's time to sit down and watch the young man play.
There's no doubt you'll be impressed.
Maria Sharapova will have more time to spend with Sasha Vujacic.
Just one match away from reaching the finals at the 2011 French Open, Maria Sharapova suffered a very hard luck loss to Li Na, 4-6, 5-7.
Although it's technically not an upset since Sharapova was seeded seventh and Na sixth, with the way that Sharapova had been playing as of late, many expected her to steamroll through any competition she faced.
It's a disappointing end to an otherwise very successful tournament run for Sharapova, who still hasn't been able to take home the title at Roland Garros and complete her first career grand slam.

Sharapova hit 24 unforced errors in the match between she and Na, and that was the major undoing in her game.
Despite the self-inflicted difficulties that she endured, Sharapova still found a way to remain competitive with Na all the way through the end of the match. Despite the loss, Sharapova did a lot for her competitive standing in the tennis world with a solid performance.
Most of the attention might have been fixated on Sharapova, but it was Li Na who made history with the victory, according to CNN.
" Li Na became the first Chinese player to reach the French Open final after a comprehensive victory over former world number one Maria Sharapova."
It's a very impressive performance for Na, but one loss certainly won't deter the former top overall women's player to stray the course.
She's determined to get back on top.
Shaquille O'Neal: What Will the Man of Many Nicknames Do Now?
Shaquille O'Neal has announced his retirement from the game of professional basketball via a video on his Twitter feed.
The chosen medium for his announcement is fairly ironic considering that he enjoyed one of the longest tenured NBA careers of any big man to play the game, but apparently he wanted to leave the game on his own terms.
After spending the majority of the season injured during his first and only campaign in Boston, O'Neal's body was likely sending a message to his brain that it simply couldn't take the rigors of another NBA season.

Apparently, The Diesel must have run out of fuel and realized that he just couldn't give it another attempt, despite another year remaining on his contract.
At this point in his life, Shaq would probably like to spend the majority of his time with his family, friends and loved ones after living life on the road over the last 20 seasons.
It's pretty incredible to consider what the center has been able to accomplish over the course of his career, especially when you consider he pretty much revolutionized the game when he was a rookie out of LSU.
Although he played for Phoenix, Cleveland and Boston at the tail end of his career, there's no doubt he'll be most remembered for his tenure in Orlando, Los Angeles and Miami.
We wish the big man nothing but the best in his retirement, and if this is truly the end, O'Neal is a no-brainer for an entry to the Hall of Fame on the first ballot.

Dirk Nowitzki has a major problem on his left hand.
Although most are pointing to the torn tendon in Dirk Nowitzki's left hand as a minor problem that can be neutralized, it may prove to be a bigger challenge than most expect.
Nowitzki will have to wear a splint on the injury for the remainder of the postseason, and it's going to be really interesting to see what type of impact it has on his overall game.
While the off-hand is typically used for balance and stability when shooting, the superstar might be forced to move to his right more often as a result if he can't dribble properly with his left hand.
MUST READ: TV Times, Channel & Series Info for NBA Finals 2011
Tim Legler thinks Nowitzki won't be the same player in the wake of his injury, and I agree with Legler's assessment.
"They're going to downplay it, obviously. But there's no question, for a shooter, when your left hand has an injury like that - and I've played with dislocations on my left hand and various injuries throughout the years - it affects you when you catch the basketball.
You don't quite catch it clean and that's a little bit of a problem getting into the shooting position, locked and loaded quickly."
He might be shooting the ball with his right hand, but it's clear that his left has been instrumental in his fabulous postseason run.
Mavericks fans are hoping that it doesn't cost them a chance at the title, but anything that hampers the team's leading scorer will surely put a chink in Dallas' armor.
Kim Kardashian is not pregnant...yet.
After reports from OK! Magazine earlier in the day suggested that Kim Kardashian was already pregnant and had a baby on the way, the reality television WAG has squashed that rumor before it could really grow extensive legs.
Responding to the false rumors first-hand, this is what Kardashian had to say via her CeleBuzz account:
"This is crazy! I am NOT pregnant! Magazines can be so tricky with their wording! The inside states that one day I want a baby! But I’m not pregnant! I can foresee lots of crazy, made up stories coming out in the near future and I certainly don’t have time to shut down every rumor. But believe that if you hear it from me, it will be true. Otherwise, don’t always believe what you read, dolls."
As Kardashian says, there are going to be plenty of rumors from now through the time of the wedding about her and a possible family, but her fans should only believe the hype when it comes straight from her mouth.

It's really not surprising at all that Kardashian was able to squash the rumors so quickly, because they pretty much came out of nowhere.
Although the report cited several "sources" that were allegedly close to Kim, it appears that they may have been a fabrication in an attempt to drum up a story line that wasn't there.
There will probably be a time when the soon-to-be Mrs. Humphries has a family of her own, but it's not coming within the next nine months.

Jimmer Fredette won't be an All-Star.
The consensus opinion on BYU standout Jimmer Fredette is that he could be a talented reserve, or he could be a mega talent who appears in multiple all-star games.
Although that's a fairly wide scale range of opinions, most talent evaluators are hesitant to commit their opinion to Fredette considering how inconsistent he's shown to be in pre-draft workouts thus far.
After barely showing up at the draft combine, Fredette reportedly looked good with the Pacers in a recent workout according to a tweet from Ryan Feldman of The Hoops Report.
"Word out of Indiana Pacers NBA Draft workout today is that Jimmer Fredette absolutely killed it."
MUST READ: Winners/Losers of Rumored Three-Team Deal Between Cavs, T-Wolves, Pistons
No matter what happens with Fredette, if I were an NBA General Manager I'd let another team roll the dice on him and the media circus that will surely come with it.
Having said that, here are five prospects I'd embrace with open arms:
Brandon Knight, PG Kentucky: He has to add weight to keep up with some bigger guys at the position, but the sky is the limit in terms of his potential.
Derrick Williams, SF Arizona: Williams is the only player in this draft with clear upside as a franchise face, but he's going to have to prove he's ready on the defensive end to achieve that status.
Marshon Brooks, SG Providence: A shooting guard with a wingspan that's over seven feet? Yes, please.
Jordan Hamilton, SG Texas: Perhaps the draft's most electric scorer, he could be this year's version of Jordan Crawford.
Darius Morris, PG Michigan: The best point guard that nobody is paying attention to, Morris is going to wind up being a steal for whatever team drafts him in the back end of the first round.
According to tabloid reports, the future Mrs. Humphries could be having a baby soon.
Perhaps there was a reason that Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries were in a rush to get married.
According to a report from OK Magazine, Kardashian is already pregnant with Humphries child, although it's not the first time we've heard pregnancy rumors surrounding Kim.
"'Kim always thought she’d have at least one or two kids by now, so she’s absolutely in a hurry,' an insider tells OK!. 'And Kris loves kids and doesn’t see any reason to wait,' adds the pal. Her friends are even taking bets on whether it will be a boy or a girl.'"
It will be interesting to see if the report is indeed true, because that kid will have quite a future in front of them with Kris and Kim as parents.
MUST READ: 1st Annual Hall of Fame WAG Class
The report should be taken with a major grain of salt, as these type of reports have often proven to be false in the past.
As TheSuperficial.com points out, the magazine hasn't shown to be the most reliable source of information when it comes to this specific topic.
"Because shotgun weddings are totes in right now, Kim Kardashian is apparently carrying Kris Humphries‘ baby already if you believe a magazine with a history of inaccurately claiming somebody is pregnant every single week on its cover."
But if it is true, Kardashian (30) and Humphries (26) are clearly in it to win it, and I wouldn't be surprised if the next Kardashian pregnancy is her sister Khloe, who is married to fellow NBA player Lamar Odom.
There is one thing that we can certainly take away from this: baby or no baby, it's clear that building a family is the next step for Kardashian.

Stuart Scott: Favorite ESPN Personality Leaving Lasting Mark
Stuart Scott continues to battle against cancer as the 2011 NBA Finals get underway, and it appears that he won't let anything slow him down.
Despite undergoing chemotherapy, Scott has been the voice of the halftime show at the NBA Finals once again this year, and thankfully we've had the opportunity to witness all of his great contributions throughout.
He's one of the classic SportsCenter personalities, delivering countless awesome catch phrases that made the casual viewer excited to tune into the hourly program.
Although he has focused more on basketball as of late, Scott helped to usher in an era of sporting entertainment that previously didn't exist until he helped to make it popular in sport culture.
According to Dylan Stableford of TheWrap.com, this isn't Scott's first battle with cancer.
"Scott was treated for cancer in 2007 after doctors found malignant tissue following an emergency appendectomy. He returned to work at ESPN a month later."
Scott ushered in the blossoming of SportsCenter as legitimate entertainment and helped to popularize a network that has come to dominate the cable airwaves. Serving as a lead personality for the platform, Scott has successfully launched a fruitful career in an industry that seems like it was made for his unique talents.
We wish nothing but the best for Stu Scott in his continuing recovery from cancer and readers can feel free to click the link below to make a donation to the American Cancer Society in the continued effort to find a cure.

Cleveland will not give LeBron James any credit.
In the wake of all of the postseason success that LeBron James has enjoyed during his inaugural campaign with the Miami Heat, it seems that Cavs fans have come out to support the opposing Dallas Mavericks.
Clearly still left with a sour taste in their mouth regarding LeBron's infamous departure from the Cavs, the team's fans have come out in drones to support the Mavericks in the hopes that the franchise can upset the Heat and take home the NBA title.
According to ESPN, one artist named George Vlosich has taken it to an entirely new level.
"And he was struck with an idea. Vlosich quickly designed a T-shirt that embodies exactly what most every NBA fan in Cleveland is thinking: He took the old-time orange 'Cavs' logo, slapped a big, blue 'M' over the 'C' and hung a cowboy hat off the 'S' on the end."
That's what I call creative marketing.
MUST READ: 10 Best NBA Stars That Haven't Won a Ring
It's really taken off to a new plateau today, as we get set for the start of the NBA Finals. The Cavs for Mavs Twitter feed has grown all day and at the time this article was composed was on the brink of surpassing 1,500 followers.
It's pretty great for Cavs fans that they're able to still draw an interest in the finals despite their team's atrocious regular season, and I'm assuming seeing LeBron lose would provide even greater pleasure than seeing their team in the postseason.
One thing is certain: the entire city of Cleveland will be rooting for Dallas to upset Miami in the first game tonight.
The 2011 NBA Finals isn't the only thing heating up Dirk Nowitzki's life.
According to Robert Littal from Black Sports Online, Dirk Nowitzki has a new girlfriend in his life and things could potentially be pretty serious.
"She is definitely better than Dirk’s last girlfriend, the CON Artist criminal who was on the run and faked a pregnancy just to keep him around."
For those that don't remember the saga of Cristal Taylor, she was the previous women in Dirk's life who attempted to keep him around in the most drastic of ways, as illustrated in the above quote.
Nowitzki has definitely done well to upgrade considering that Taylor didn't exactly have the looks of Jessica Olsson.
Littal also states that the two might be engaged, and while that is certainly not confirmed, Nowitzki should consider himself lucky if he has indeed successfully snagged Olsson off of the market.
MUST READ: 50 Best Sports Hottie Bikini Bodies
Nowitzki clearly has a thing for ladies with chocolate skin, and it's rather hard to blame him.
I definitely wouldn't mind seeing her face on camera a few times during the NBA Finals rather than Joel Anthony's ugly left-handed free throw attempts.
The timing of the news is rather interesting considering that the Finals are set to kick off today, and hopefully this doesn't serve as a distraction to Dirk, who is really in a zone right now.
But how could anyone be distracted when they have Olsson on their arm?
That's a question I would certainly like to know the answer to if anyone can come up with a reasonable explanation of how she would ever be a deterrent to his air-tight game.
The 2011 NBA Finals get underway tonight with LeBron James looking to steal the show.
There is one matchup that everybody is salivating over in anticipation of the 2011 NBA Finals beginning, and it's all about LeBron vs. Dirk.
With each player looking to secure his first championship ring and just seven games (at most) remaining in each team's season, there's no doubt that each future Hall of Famer will leave it all on the court.
Nowitzki has been downright unguardable thus far in the postseason, and James has successfully silenced the critics with his impressive play that has landed his team in the championship in his first season with Miami.
But which one will emerge with the Larry O'Brien Trophy?
MUST READ: Top 10 NBA Stars That Never Won a Finals, Who Can Escape?
According to Jennifer Lloyd Engel of the Star-Telegram, the two players evoke very different images around the league, with Nowitzki's likability and James playing the role of villain after signing with the Heat.
And as she correctly points out, the two were in very similar positions last summer.
"LeBron and Dirk were both free agents last summer. You do remember that Dirk had "The Decision" to reach as well, right? Stay or go? And Dallas was not viewed that much differently in basketball circles than Cleveland back then -- a good, not great, team unlikely to get over the hump as presently constructed."
But rather than flying the coop, Nowitzki chose to stay and has been the guiding force behind Dallas' improbable run to the championship.
And although James left his post as leader of the Cavs, it appears that he too made the right decision, despite the different path that he chose to walk down.
Sometimes, different paths can lead to the same point, and that is exactly what has happened here with the superstars.
