The final is over. Barcelona are once again champions of Europe. There will be much analysis about the game over the course of the next few days. Here are some quick player reviews in seven words or fewer.

Manchester
United

Edwin van der Sar: Not his fault. For the most part.

Nemanja Vidic:Valiant effort. Just couldn't stop the attack.

Rio Ferdinand: Needed more out of him.

Patrice Evra: Best defender for United throughout the game.

Fabio: A little outmatched. Still a decent performance.

Ryan Giggs: Impressive play in light of personal issues.

Michael Carrick: Didn't have an answer for Barca's midfield.

Paul Scholes: Wasn't the answer to United's problems.

Nani: Creative attack. Should have subbed in sooner.

Park Ji-Sung: Couldn't disrupt Barca's midfield as hoped, anticipated.

Antonio Valencia: Pretty uninspired performance. Has seen better days.

Javier Hernandez: Non-factor. Wasn't on same page with Rooney.

Wayne Rooney: Tireless effort. Amazing goal. Expected nothing less.

Barcelona

Victor Valdes: Solid performance. As usual, not tested much.

Gerard Pique: Played well enough to make Shakira happy.

Javier Mascherano: Impressive play. Shut down United's attack.

Eric Abidal: Solid. Smart move starting him over Puyol.

Carles Puyol: Nice of Pep to put him in.

Dani Alves: Great runs and contribution to the offense.

Sergio Busquets: Flops too much. Should be stronger.

Andres Iniesta: Brilliant passes, vision. One of the best.

Xavi: Controls the game no matter the opponent.

Pedro: Great goal. Inspired play.

David Villa: Arguably the best finisher in the game.

Lionel Messi: Tons of hype. Lived up to it.
