UFC 130 Results: Rampage Jackson Defeats Matt Hamill
Hamill goes for broke with a Superman punch to open the final stanza, but Rampage flinches his head out of the way and counters with a right hand that glances off the Hammer. Another shot from Hamill gets stuffed and this bad rider seems like a formality with four minutes left in the contest.
Hamill just can't do anything to Rampage; Jackson isn't really slaughtering his adversary, but he IS dominating the tussle. That said, it's about the most yawn-inducing domination since Jon Fitch's last round against B.J. Penn at UFC 127.
Matt appears to be competing to avoid the knockout rather than trying to win and even that might not work as he takes another couple of crushers from Rampage. The Hammer has one hell of a chin, though, because some of these bombs from Quinton are finding holes in the defense.
Yet Hamill hasn't been badly hurt. Yet.
Matt will make it the distance, but more because Rampage is spent—he just backed away and stood with his hands on his hips in the center of the Octagon. He musters one last charge as the final horn nears, then calls an end to a final 10-9 round for Rampage.
Quinton Jackson defeats Matt Hamill by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
Apparently, the crowd didn't get enough of a fight in the Octagon so two yahoos are going at it across the arena.
All in all, that seems an appropriate ending to a disappointing night of fights.
But at least Rampage Jackson still has his sense of humor even if the crowd doesn't.
