Deal With the Desert Dogs? The Maple Leafs Looking for More Draft Picks

Jack PorterCorrespondent IOctober 21, 2008

Rumour Alert In LeafsNation!

The Leafs are 100 percent interested in acquiring draft picks, and it seems they have a deal in the works with the Phoenix Coyotes that will allow them to receive the Coyotes' first round selection in the '09 draft.

Details of the work in progress seem to point towards the Leafs sending Ian White and either Matt Stajan or a prospect around the same skill level as a Robbie Earl or Chris DiDomenco.

This would be a great deal for the Leafs as they would be able to pick up a prospect of higher skill level than a Robbie Earl or Chris DiDomenco. And with the Coyotes pick having a high chance of being in the top ten, a future star could be in the cards for Toronto.

Also of note: it has been rumoured that Alexei Ponikarovsky and/or Carlo Coliacovo may be next on the chopping block as the heads continue to roll in Toronto.
