when yur only loss is to the number on team, which you played toe to toe with, you shoul drop no further than two, regardless of tradtion polling concepts. Also, there are no two better teams in college football now than the Longhorns and the Sooners.

Playing only 12 games instead of 13 may hurt Sooneres...or it may help

I think Oklahoma's National Title hopes are basically done. I do not have any faith that two teams could beat Texas. I guess there is a chance for a three way tie where Oklahoma wins the tiebreaker (not sure how that would look) and makes the Big 12 title instead of Texas. I still see them as the nation's second best thing, so anything is possible. Still there defense has looked suspect at times.

They looked good until the scrubs came in. (Their scrubs could beat most of the teams in the nation.) Sam Bradford made the argument for his Heisman ranking. One loss to the number one team. They are the best one loss team in the nation.

Definitely the best one loss team.
Colin Flosi No.4
The best one-loss team in the nation. Legitimate Heisman candidate in Bradford, and at this moment, they are not eliminated from the Big 12 Championship, or the National Championship.

Good job by the Sooners to rebound from a tough loss to Texas.
Jonny Solovy No.4
Even though they lost to Texas I think they can play with anyone and probably beat almost anyone. They may have one more shot at the title, they better not blow it.

Still in good position should Texas fall, but no team has made the title game without a conference title.
William Qualkinbush No.5
This is still a very physical team that will pound opponents and could sneak back into the national title hunt with a Texas slip-up.
Scott Pusich No.5
(previous: 6) 6-1. The highest-ranked team with a loss, the Sooners recovered well by outscoring a determined Jayhawks team. Although they will need help to make it to the promised land of the Big XII conference championship, it’s still within the realm of possibility. But Oklahoma’s conference destiny is no longer in their own hands; they have to hope for an upset of Texas. Another postseason possibility is to land a BCS berth if Texas beats the Big XII North champion.

The Sooners have three weeks of prep time before taking on Texas Tech and Oklahoma St to finish off the season.

The Big 12 South is by far the best division in football. They could compete with the NFC West. Oklahoma could only be the fourth best team in the division.

This is a team that may have struggled at Texas proving that they are not unbeatable, but they still stand a chance for a title game and are feirce competitors. Tou sleep on these guys and you'll wake up hung over.
Ryan Williams No.8
Still not completely sold they should be higher than this based on their current resume despite preseason hype.
