The Big East represents at no. 12...but this team sometimes is Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde in that I see another unexpected loss in their future

Imagine had they not started so slowly out of the gates? LeSean McCoy is finally showing me that he should be considered for the Heisman.

A white hot Pitt team at 5-1 looks towards the Big East championship.

Another performance like they had last week against Navy and they pass South Florida. They just have to. Pitt has really turned it around since that terrible loss to Bowling Green

Kevin Thomas No.14
Have looked very good since an opening game loss to Bowling Green.

Have the Panthers finally turned things around? Still lead the Big East and may be able to put it away if South Florida is to lose again.

Everyone wrote them off after they lost to Bowling Green, but this looks like a totally different team now.

Holy eight-spot jump, Batman! All they did was beat Navy on the road, but Navy already beat Wake Forest a couple of weeks ago. Pitt was also aided by the ACC upsets.

This is a real sleeper team. They can run the rest of the tablse that they have and very well end up in a BCS Bowl bid.

Jonny Solovy No.17
Pitt has a pretty good defense and a tremendous rushig attack. Mccoy is an all-american and Pitt may crash a BCS bowl.

Justin Dixon No.17
The Panthers double up Navy to keep their winning streak going. If they had beat Bowling Green they might be sniffing the top 10.

Easily the best team in the Big East this year despite the opening-day letdown against Bowling Green

(previous: NR) 5-1. A pleasant surprise so far, Pitt is the "sleeper" in the Big East. The season-opening loss to Bowling Green is the only reason to keep them this low in the rankings. The win over South Florida gave the Panthers a big boost. If Pitt can bottle that energy and keep it going through the rest of the season (including road games at Notre Dame and Connecticut, and a home game vs. West Virginia), they can capture the Big East title. And hopefully move into the Top Ten in the rankings, so as not to precipitate cries about whether they deserve the BCS berth.
