Amar'e Stoudemire to Executive Produce Hollywood Sequel
Apparently Knicks superstar Amar'e Stoudemire will be spending his offseason looking into pursuing potential business deals that could further line his pocketbook.
But none are entirely related to basketball.
The All-Star big man is making very good use of his New York City connections and clearly maximizing his opportunities.
The Knicks star, who's also a fashion designer and actor, is now in discussions with Relativity Media mogul Ryan Kavanaugh to executive-produce "The Strangers 2," a sequel to the creepy 2008 chiller "The Strangers."
...Stoudemire raved about "The Strangers" to us at Tuesday night's Whitney Art Party in Chelsea, which he co-hosted along with Shala Monroque and Eddie Borgo. "Ever see 'The Strangers?' It's a scary movie . . . It's crazy," he told us. Relativity Media finances and distributes films including "Bridesmaids," "Limitless," "The Fighter" and "The Social Network."
The Post is also reporting that the first movie grossed $80 million with a $9 million budget.
Sounds a very promising project for Stoudemire, who is also expected to film a cameo in the HBO series "Entourage."
Hopefully all of these offseason deals won't let him forget that he still needs to toughen up on the basketball court and figure out a way to successfully play with new teammate Carmelo Anthony.
