New Lakers Coach: Lakers Forward Pau Gasol Glad to Have Mike Brown on Board
Pau Gasol Uses Twitter to Welcome New Lakers Coach Mike Brown
The Los Angeles Lakers have themselves a new head coach, and he is quite different from the old coach.
In case you haven't heard, former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Mike Brown has been chosen to replace Phil Jackson, he of the 11 championship rings. Brown is a defense-first coach, which bodes well for a team that had its struggles on defense this season.
While the Lakers organization is obviously thrilled to have Brown on board, it would appear that the same cannot be said of Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant. He had no comment about Brown's hiring on Wednesday.
However, there is at least one Laker who is happy to have Brown. That would be none other than All-Star forward Pau Gasol. He said so himself on Twitter.

Brendan Meyer of the Wasserman Media Group asked Gasol what he thought of Brown's hiring, and Gasol responded by saying, "I'm excited about our new coach, I hope he can lead us to more titles."
More titles would indeed be the whole idea. If Brown can't get the job done, though, he might not get to serve all four years of his $18.25 million deal.
One thing that's hard to ignore is that Laker fans don't seem to have much faith in Brown. In fact, I've had one person call Brown's hiring "the worst decision that storied franchise has ever made." Not an expert opinion, to be sure, but indicative all the same.
Immaterial, perhaps. Lakers owner Jerry Buss said not even the players were consulted in the decision-making process. I think we can take that to mean he didn't take suggestions from fans either.
