WWE News: Wrestlemania 27 Buyrate Revealed, Is It Good or Bad News?
Wrestlemania 27 Buyrate Is In
Each and every year, WWE officials set a goal: They want Wrestlemania to reach one million pay-per-view buys.
Well, the buyrate for Wrestlemania 27 is in, and Vince McMahon may actually be smiling right now.
According to PWInsider.com, the company's preliminary estimate for this year's show is 1,042,000 buys worldwide.
It looks like a few things worked for the WWE this year: The Rock hosting, Stone Cold Steve Austin working as a special guest referee and Snooki wrestling in a mixed tag team match.
Of course, there were certainly other factors involved in the increased buyrate. But The Rock, Stone Cold and Snooki were brought in for a reason, to sell PPVs, and that's exactly what they did.
I'm honestly not sure if this is a good thing, though.
Sure, Vince McMahon got what he wanted (an increased buyrate), but he also likely had to shell out a ton of money to get those three to appear at Wrestlemania.
Was it worth it? I'm sure Vince thinks so.
