With Bernard Hopkins and Oscar De La Hoya both hogging the headlines these days, we can’t think of a better way to acknowledge their star power than to feature them in a video together.

Today's boxing video of the day perfectly mirrors exactly what these fighters are currently both going through. During this fight in 2004, Bernard Hopkins was on top of the world after knocking out Oscar De La Hoya with gorgeous body shot.

On the other hand, De La Hoya was so down in the dumps from an embarrassing defeat that he decided to retire from the sport of boxing for a couple of years.

Fast-forward seven years later and both fighters presumably share the same emotions they did after their fight in 2004.

Bernard Hopkins is once again on top of the world after defeating Jean Pascal to become the oldest boxing champion of all time while Oscar De La Hoya is undergoing a ton of public embarrassment from checking into rehab for substance abuse.

Isn't it ironic how history seems to repeat itself?

With that said, we certainly don't want to make light of De La Hoya's addictions. We hope he successfully receives the help he seeks. Cocaine and alcohol abuse is a serious life-threatening matter.

As the founder of Golden Boy Promotions, De La Hoya still has a ton to offer to the sport of boxing. With any luck he'll help clean up the sport and play match-maker to a ton of exciting fights in the future.

We wish him nothing but the best in his recovery.
