Kyle Busch was caught speeding, doing 128 miles per hour.
No big deal, right? After all, he's one of the stars of NASCAR, where speeding is the way of life. And 128 miles per hour? Isn't that what they do under a yellow flag?
Well, it wasn't in a race and it certainly wasn't under caution. Busch was pulled over doing 128 in a 45 MPH zone on Tuesday in North Carolina, about 30 miles north of Charlotte.
According to the Associated Press, sheriff's deputies in Iredell County stopped Busch driving a 2012 yellow Lexus sports car on a road between the towns of Troutman and Mooresville, where Busch lives. Mooresville is considered a Charlotte suburb and houses many of NASCAR's racing teams.
Busch was cited for speeding and released after signing a promise to appear in court.
Busch issued a statement late Tuesday saying he was "test-driving a new sports car and I got carried away. I went beyond the speed I should have been going on a public road. I apologize to the public, my fans, sponsors, and race teams for my lack of judgment."
