The Oakland Raiders and the Raider Nation are a learning community. We study. We work. We play hard. We strategize. We think.
After reading a few passages with a former Oakland Raider, I noticed that the key words "ask", "seek", and "knock" have the acronym of A.S.K. Each word represents another level of action. "Ask" means to simply request using words. "Seek" means to move forward toward the goal or desired outcome. "Knock" indicates the action of making your desires known or heard by others.
So, I thought I would try to be clever and give meaning to A.S.S.S. and we have:
Let's just say that some of us are asking for smart, strong, and strategic Oakland Raiders in the 2011 season. We want the Oakland Raiders to "kick A.S.S.S." and get with the program and win.
We learn from each other. I learned from outstanding writers like Leroy Watson, Raider Card Addict, David Wilson, Brent, Bret, John Doublin and others. That's what it's all about. Learning is what makes the difference.
As I learn, I impart my knowledge and inspiration to others. One example is that a young artist, with a B/R name VeeCee, has started a piece of artwork that just may be a masterpiece. I have not seen the finished artwork, but I do hope that she stayed the course and finished the fine project.
The articles we post on B/R are intended for the Oakland Raiders and the Raider Nation. We are learning together to draw a masterpiece on the canvas of NFL history.
We study each other. We talk, we laugh, we cry together. We seek to understand the experiences of the Oakland Raiders using words, pictures, numbers and symbols. We seek to awaken the spirit of victory, determination and courage.
Are we getting there? Where?
Yes, we are moving up. We are growing. We can do it! We were 8-8 last season and we ask for more in 2011. I want at least an 11-5 win-loss record for 2011.
One example is that I started writing for B/R in April 2009, although I signed up in August 2008.
I studied the site. Then, I jumped in deep water and started my swim to higher levels of understanding the Oakland Raiders and the NFL.
As of today, the B/R Article Likes page has Damali Binta YAEL ranked No. 3 out of more than 11,700 writers. That demonstrates the value of hard work and staying on task. Of course, BR has stopped publishing and changing the Like ranks recently.
And if you look at the Oakland Raiders B/R page today, you see that Damali Binta YAEL's ranks in the top 10 among some very powerful male sports writers. The competition has increased and the criteria has changed many times.
It is encouraging to also see that YAEL was once ranked as the top writer on the NFL history page. Top writers are not cited on this page at present.
Now, ladies in the Raider Nation, be awakened and join me in this challenge to have a voice on B/R and in the Raider Nation. Ladies, you can do it too. Don't be shy. Join the competition.
As the presence of the Raider ladies increases, I conjecture that the rank and standing of the Oakland Raiders will increase.
I just believe there is a connection between what we say, what we do, and the impartations we share through our writings and sincere desire for more victories for the Oakland Raiders.
There are examples in history of what women add to the quest for power and to the desire to conquer or to attain a goal.
I am impressed with the life of Deborah, the Judge, who made her contributions to history. The list is long when I think of the women in history and in sports who have impressed me.
So as VeeCee continues her work-in-progress (which should be completed by now), drawing the hands of one of the Oakland Raiders most intense wide receivers who delivered and got those touchdowns back in 1969, we will strive with our work-in-progress of getting more Raider ladies to speak up and out. To date, we still do not seem to have high visibility of women on the BR Oakland Raiders page.
Meanwhile, we expect the Oakland Raiders to rise up in rank in the NFL in 2011. We expect the Oakland Raiders to study and learn what it takes to be transformed into one of the greatest NFL teams in the history of the NFL.
We realize that the Oakland Raiders are a work in progress. Go Raiders! Paint a masterpiece on the canvas of NFL history.
