Rumors started to circulate today about the jerseys that will be worn in Philadelphia for the 2012 NHL Winter Classic between the Flyers and New York Rangers

The cause of the rumors was not some sketchy photograph of a knockoff Flyers or Rangers jersey. In fact, they were started by a photo (the one seen above) that looks very well done and legit but is nonetheless speculative.

However, the Liberty Bell logo with the snow patch is a pretty awesome touch.

While these sweaters or the logo are not confirmed by anyone at this point, they look real and if in fact they are, James van Riemsdyk approves: "Pretty sick jerseys if those r them." (via Twitter

The Rangers' sweaters, soaked in a pearl color, look fairly similar to their normal home and away jerseys but possess a gritty, tough-guy look (especially with the laces).

The Flyers' sweaters are inspired by the Philadelphia Quakers, who only played one full NHL season in 1930 at Philadelphia Arena before being moved and renamed the Pittsburgh Pirates.

In their one season, the Quakers went 4-36-4 and only had 12 points.

Let's hope the Flyers can do a little bit better than that next season.
