Boxing Knockout of the Day: Victor Ortiz Destroys Jeffrey Resto

In 2008, Victor Ortiz was highly regarded as an up-and-comer who would eventually carry the torch for the sport of boxing. He was exciting young fighter who was blessed with a ton of talent.

Ortiz was dominating everyone in his path, and unfortunately for Jeffrey Resto, he was no exception.

In today’s boxing video, Ortiz beat the living crap out of Resto.

After scoring his third knockdown of the night, the referee finally decides he has seen enough and calls a halt to the bout. It was a great stoppage by the ref. Ortiz was obviously in an entirely different class than Resto, who would have been seriously hurt if the fight kept going.

Isn't it funny how much things change in just three years?

Since this win, Ortiz has lost to Marcos Maidana, quit in the middle of fights and had his heart questioned by millions of fans.

Luckily for Vicious Victor, it only took one fight in order for all of the negatives to be forgotten. Last month, nobody gave him a chance against Andre Berto. Nobody believed he could win except himself.

Ortiz showed more heart in his win over Berto than most fighters ever show in their entire careers. With 12 tough rounds of boxing, he won over all of his critics and is now a front-runner to face Floyd Mayweather later this year.

However, his quick rise back to fame shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who watched way back when he was dominating fighters like Jeffrey Resto. He has always had the talent; he just needed to find the heart.

Now that he finally seems to have a do-or-die mentality, Victor Ortiz won’t be easy fighter for anyone to beat. That includes Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
