There was recently a story published at the I'm really hoping that these quotes from Mets' owner, Jeff Wilpon are not real, but I highly doubt that.  I was so surprised when I first read some of Wilpon's quotes

When asked about David Wright, Wilpon said, "He's pressing.  A really good kid.  A very good player. Not a superstar."

He had this to say about Jose Reyes.  "He thinks he’s going to get Carl Crawford money,” Wilpon said, referring to the Red Sox’ signing of the former Tampa Bay Rays player to a seven-year, $142 million contract. “He’s had everything wrong with him,” Wilpon said of Reyes. “He won’t get it."

Here's his thought on Carlos Beltran.  “We had some schmuck in New York who paid him based on that one series,” he said, referring to himself. He's in the last year of his  seven year, $119 million contract with the Mets, Beltran has also been recently injury prone. “He’s sixty-five to seventy per cent of what he was.”

Wilpon later went on to say that the Mets are a "shitty team" and that the team is snakebitten.  If these are true then the Mets have a problem.  This goon is running the team and he's a joke.

As Mets fans know, Wilpon is currently in the middle of a lawsuit regarding the Madoff Ponzi Scheme.  I won't get into details, but this guy has driven this team into the ground financially.  I am one of the many Mets fans that are hoping that Wilpon sells this team before he does any more damage to it.

Some people might actually not have a problem with Wilpon's comments, they might just think that Wilpon is entitled to his opinion about the team and that he is being more like George Steinbrenner, which some people think is a good thing.

I don't care how you put it, what Fred Wilpon said was absolutely foolish and wrong.  It's one thing to say these things to a friend, but not to a reporter that will put your words into a story on the internet.  The sad thing is that there is nobody to fire this goon, because he is the team owner.  It's rough being a Mets fan and hopefully they continue playing well and prove Wilpon wrong.
