WWE Over The Limit Results: John Cena, CM Punk & New Rivalries We Might See

Rob PicarielloCorrespondent IMay 23, 2011

I originally wanted to put together a slideshow listing seven to ten new rivalries we could see going forward as a result of the Over The Limit pay-per-view.

While I won't say the event was a dud, it did make me realize that we weren't given any indications of that many new rivalries coming to fruition.

In lieu of the slideshow, here are a few new programs that the WWE has hinted at. With four episodes of Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown coming up before next month's Capitol Punishment, let's hope we are treated to some new matches.

John Cena and CM Punk

This is the hot rumor that is flying around the IWC today. This feud would certainly help WWE's battle in re-signing CM Punk, but although it is being reported that it is John Cena's idea, it's not clear how this helps the WWE Champion.

Although CM Punk is a top heel right now, he has a huge following of fans. There would be a great chance that John Cena would be booed every time the two of them stepped into the same ring. That said, I hope this feud happens because it would be a shame to see CM Punk leave the company.

The Miz and Alex Riley

I can't even begin to defend what the WWE did to poor Mike "The Miz" Mizanin last night.

Not only was he not allowed to face Cena one-on-one and at least look like a formidable opponent, after dominating Cena for over 20 minutes, he was forced to say "I Quit" after about 30 seconds of Cena offense.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not upset Cena retained the title. I'm 100% upset with how the actual match played out. There was no reason to make it a 2-on-1 match with Alex Riley being so prominently involved.

After two losses to Cena at the last two pay-per-views, the only thing they can do now with The Miz is have him blame Riley for the losses and have the two of them feud. I'm not going to be able to believe that The Miz can stay in the WWE title picture after watching him scream "I Quit".

Honestly, other than those two programs, I'm not sure where the WWE is heading. They could certainly bring Alberto Del Rio into a program with John Cena and have CM Punk and the other members of the New Nexus come to blows.

I would assume we will be getting more R-Truth and Rey Mysterio along with Randy Orton and Christian (even if they throw in Sheamus and Mark Henry). And where in the world was Kharma last night? Way to keep your biggest attraction as of late off the pay-per-view.

Not to mention that other superstars that were getting big pushes, such as Cody Rhodes, were also left off the card.

I'd like to hear what the Bleachers have to say about what new feuds we may be looking at so please leave your thoughts in the comment section.

Thanks to all of the Bleachers who helped a couple of my WWE articles go 'Platinum' recently.
