Oscar De La Hoya: Former Champ Enters Rehab for Cocaine Abuse and Infidelity

Former champion turned Golden Boy Promotions head man Oscar De La Hoya has checked himself into a rehab center in Southern California.

TMZ is reporting that De La Hoya has checked himself into the facilities with cocaine addiction that led to his marriage infidelities.

The former fighter has told friends that his substance abuse problems had a direct correlation with his marriage infidelities and that he believes that he hasn’t hit rock bottom yet.

De La Hoya said in a statement obtained by Fox News:

Throughout my career and my life, I have always met all challenges head-on, and this is no different. I am confident that with the support of my family and friends, I will become a stronger, healthier person.

While I feel very happy for De La Hoya that he is getting help, it makes me sad to see how far the once-so-mighty have fallen.

It seems like only last year that De la Hoya was on top of the boxing world, and now that he is officially into the promotion side and into rehab now, it’s just sad for boxing. Hopefully he gets himself in order and makes a full comeback.
