High Treason: Pittsburgh Football Staff Stocked Heavy with Former WVU Coaches

Bob AllenCorrespondent IIMay 23, 2011

On Friday November 25th 2011, the 104th edition of the Backyard Brawl will take place at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, WV. The Mountaineers will try to win three in a row for the first time since 1994, they also won the next two seasons making it the longest winning streak by West Virginia in the series.

However this year will be much different, Pittsburgh will have an all-too-familiar coaching staff. In fact, five of the Panthers 10 current coaches to include its head coach Todd Graham have coached at WVU in the past. If you add up their combined time at WVU it equals to 21 years.

Todd Graham Head Coach

Coached WVU linebackers in 2001 and was the co-defensive coordinator in 2002 with Jeff Casteel.

Calvin Magee Offensive Coordinator

WVU offensive coordinator until 2008, served at WVU from 2001-2007.

Tony Gibson Secondary

WVU defensive backs coach from 2001-2007.

Tony Dews Tight Ends / Recruiting

WVU graduate assistant from 1999-2001, coached wide receivers in 2007.

Paul Randolph Associate Head Coach / Defensive Line

WVU defensive line and special teams coach in 2002.

The thing that stands out the most out of all of this is the number of coaches at West Virginia that have coached at the University of Pittsburgh in the past, that number is zero.
