WWE Summer Madness: Final Four
The WWE Summer Madness tournament is coming closer to an end, as the winners of each bracket were voted on and selected yesterday. We are now down to the final four superstars that you have chosen and voted for. These four superstars are still in the running for being named the greatest WWE superstar of all time.
Before getting to the matches, let's take a look at the winner of each bracket.
The North Bracket of this tournament consisted of some of the greatest technical wrestlers of all time mixed with some of the best past and present superstars. With former great champions such as Harley Race and Randy Savage, this bracket did not look easy. Great ring technicians of the past such as Bret Hart, Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit were also competing in this star-filled bracket.
The surprises in this bracket came when Chris Benoit upset both Bret Hart and Randy Savage to compete in the final match of this bracket. However, Kurt Angle was looking hot after defeating the likes of Jerry Lawler and HHH. The final match in this bracket was very close, but after it was all said and done, Kurt Angle came out on top and has made it to the final four.
North Bracket winner: Kurt Angle
The South Bracket of this tournament was not only filled with big names but also big superstars. With guys like Brock Lesnar, Bill Goldberg, Andre the Giant and Vader, this bracket looked like it had the potential for some big upsets. However, the two big names in this bracket would go on to take out all of these monsters: Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. With two huge names like this in one bracket, it is tough for anyone else to move on.
However, there were a few upsets thrown into this bracket worth noting. The young Randy Orton took out both the Ultimate Warrior and Ricky Steamboat before facing the rattlesnake. Also, Edge defeated both Mick Foley and Andre the Giant before being put before the people's champions.
After everything was said and done, Stone Cold and The Rock stood face to face to determine the winner of this bracket. With a close victory, Stone Cold Steve Austin made it into the final four to face Kurt Angle.
South Bracket winner: Stone Cold Steve Austin
Match One: Kurt Angle vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin
If there was one bracket with the most upset victories, it was the West Bracket. With names like Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair and Mr. Perfect thrown into the mix, it seemed like this bracket could write itself. However, the younger superstars stepped up to upset the legends and make this bracket interesting.
John Cena upset both Hulk Hogan and Mr. Perfect to make it into the final match of this bracket. For a guy who the Internet hates, he made it further than I expected. Chris Jericho had the most upsets, taking out Jake Roberts, Bruno Sammartino and Ric Flair on his way to the final match of this bracket.
Cena vs. Jericho is something that never lets fans down, and this time was no different. By a very slim margin, Chris Jericho continued his momentum to take him into the final four to face the winner of the East Bracket.
West Bracket winner: Chris Jericho
The East Bracket was filled with legends who held the WWE championship belt for long periods of time. Great competitors like Bob Backlund, Lou Thesz, Dusty Rhodes and Pedro Morales were all competing to win this bracket.
However, like the South Bracket, the two big names would come out on top: Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. It is hard for anyone to argue the legacies of these two wrestlers in and out of the ring.
There were not too many upsets in this bracket with the exception of the ultimate underdog, Rey Mysterio. Mysterio took out Lou Thesz and Dusty Rhodes before his run was stopped by the showstopper.
In the championship match of this bracket, the Undertaker would have the same fate, as Shawn Michaels edged him out for a spot in the final four. The Undertaker can defeat Shawn Michaels twice at WrestleMania, but his time in the WWE Summer Madness tournament is over.
East Bracket Winner: Shawn Michaels
Match Two: Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels
As always, leave your votes in a comment below the post. Your choices will determine who is in the championship match, which will be posted tomorrow. Have fun voting!
