Adam Robinson, the leading rusher for the Iowa Hawkeyes, is off the team. Robinson had been suspended by Kirk Ferentz from the Insight Bowl for an unspecified violation of team rules.

While on suspension he was arrested for possession of marijuana, at which point he was dismissed from the team. It seemed possible that he could return to the team following the dismissal, but after today’s announcements, that is no longer the case.

Robinson will almost certainly transfer to another school and will have to sit one year before being eligible to play. Look for him to come back bigger, stronger and more ready for a potential NFL career.

The real crime here is that possession of marijuana is illegal and that it cut short the career of a future Hawkeye legend.

If you believe that society became any safer because A-Rob was busted for pot, you are greatly mistaken. “Tough on crime” is “ignorant” for stupid. God bless the USA!
