Cold Temps and Rain Wrecks Havoc in Indy for Practice for the 500 Today

Fifty was the key number today. That's the degrees at least the ambient temperature needs to be for the cars to be able to practice.
With temps unseasonably cold the last two days in Indianapolis, it delayed practice a bit today.
Teams had to wait until temps surpassed the 50 degree mark to be able to practice for the 95th running of the race. That delayed the scheduled noon start for practice.
With the track finally opening for practice, only one car made its way out. That car was the No. 27 Andretti Autosport Honda of Mike Conway. He turned just five laps in the car after teammate Marco Andretti drove the car for eight laps prior trying to get a feel for a different setup.
Those 13 laps were the only laps turned today due to some rain moving through the speedway area, which officially closed practice for the day at 4:05 p.m. local time.
Practice resumes tomorrow at noon.
