Red Sox: Four Years Later-Different Situation, Same Outcome?

Matt OffermannCorrespondent IOctober 18, 2008

Personally I cannot stand the Red Sox, but no matter who you are you have got to respect what they have done and are going to do.Every Yankee fan remembers, even myself, of the 2004 ALCS when the Red Sox came back from 3 games to none to win it and go on to the World Series. Could it possibly happen again?

This year has been different from that dreadful year but the Sox are on their way to repeat again. Boston won game one but lost the next three. Currently, they have won two in a row to tie it at 3 all.

The similarities of the 2004 and 2008 ALCS are very close. With the exception of this years win of game one.

Game 5.

2004- The Yankees had a 2 run lead up until the 5th inning. (until Boston scored 1st run )

2008 -The Rays had a 7 run lead untill the 7th inning.

The key catalyst for both series has got to be David Ortiz.

2004- Ortiz hit a single with the bases loaded to give the Sox a 3-2 lead and the momentum.

2008- Ortiz demolished a three-run shot to give Boston momentum.

The question for game 7 will be the Rays pitching. They need to buckle down, and most importantly of all     NOT THINK ABOUT THE 2004 ALCS.

What do you guys think?
