Cam Newton Gets His Used Auburn Pants Auctioned Off

I love me some sports. That may be why I have devoted my life to covering its characters. However, I do have a line that I have to draw.

I am not into used clothing. I am all for going to Goodwill if you need some cheap clothes to keep you warm. But shelling out hundreds of dollars for some second hand pants that an athlete sweats in is not only gross, it's a tad creepy.

Let me explain. A quick jaunt to Auburn's athletic website shows two items they are suctioning off. One is a pair of Cam Newton's used pants. The second is a pair of Nick Fairley's used cleats.

There is no word if they plan of hawking used gum or chewing tobacco to the masses of Auburn fans.

You can lay down your hard earned recession money here. So far, the pants are netting up to $660 at the moment.

The going rate for some shoes that Fairley once wore, $335. Both of these prices are sure to go up in the remaining 22 hours of the auction.

Now there is of course a caveat to my rule. I am a sports nerd at heart. I could see owning a bat from Honus Wagner, or a hat off the head of Satchel Paige.

However, Newton and Fairley have proved nothing so far. In two years, you could own some used pants that are worth as much as some boxers I own that are on their last leg. Let's all do ourselves a favor and drink from the well of perspective.

Use that money responsibly. Send it to me.
