NBA Draft Order 2011: Why the 2008 NBA Draft Gives Everyone Hope
NBA Draft Order 2011 saw the improbable turn a franchise around
The 2008 draft was the best of times and the worst of times for two of the NBA’s most popular franchises. The Chicago Bulls, with less than a 1.7% chance of landing the top spot in the draft, edged out the Miami Heat for the leagues first choice.
The Bulls chose Memphis guard Derrick Rose over Michael Beasley and it completely changed the face of their team, that franchise, and the basketball pulse in the city of Chicago. Rose emerged as a superstar and changed the very nature of the Bulls.
The Bulls improbable selection makes the rest of the NBA hopeful. There is, but one chance, that some NBA team may pull off the impossible and get their pick of the litter. While I think the system is broken and needs to revert back to a more traditional selection, I can understand why there is some resistance.
2008 gave everyone hope for the impossible and what it brings.
