2011 NBA Mock Draft: Comparing Expert Opinions, Sixers Add Markieff Morris
2011 NBA Mock Draft Gives Philadelphia 76ers More Front Court Help
Markieff is the bigger of the Morris twins at 6'10, 245 lbs but he's also the one with a less polished mid-range and post-game. However, he brings more toughness than his brother Marcus, Doug Gottlieb of ESPN writes that Markieff is:
A better rebounder and shot blocker than his twin brother, and he's not afraid to make the hard foul or the tough play. He's not as skilled in terms of low-post game and has not gotten as many minutes to display on-floor IQ as his brother. Solid big man who might become a starter someday.
Chad Ford thinks that the Sixers could afford to add more depth to their front court because of Elton Brand's age and the pending free agency of Thaddeus Young. Therefore, Morris would be a welcome addition because of his ability to play both the 4 and the 5 and help stretch the floor because his jump shot is steadily improving.
The Sixers thrived on their defense last season and showed plenty of heart during their first round series against the Cavaliers. Morris is high IQ and intangibles guy that would be an asset for Doug Collins' basketball team.
My pick: Markieff Morris
Weight: 245 lbs
