2011 NBA Mock Draft Find Pistons in Need of an Interior Presence

There's no question that the Pistons have lacked a true defensive fly swatter since Ben Wallace was in his prime but this year's 2011 NBA draft could change that.  Greg Monroe is a promising player for Detroit and if they find an athletic 5 to play alongside him in the draft, he's versatile enough to move over to the power forward position.

Size is what they should be looking for in this draft.  Chad Ford writes:

Biyombo might be the perfect remedy for what ails them. He has burst onto the scene and could be a risk. But it's hard to find his combination of length, athleticism and motor at this point in the draft. He should be a perfect complement to the more offensive-oriented Greg Monroe on the Pistons' front line.

Bismack Biyombo brings similar raw skills to former defensive stalwart Ben Wallace and could the best option with this pick.  Doug Gottlieb adds:

Highly athletic big man who has exploded onto the scene. Emergence of Serge Ibaka helps his cause as well. Should be a rebounding/shot blocking/dunking machine with his high motor, though he is not skilled yet.

Another option for the Pistons could be Tristan Thompson of Texas if he's available.  But he's already off the board in this mock draft. Front court is where they need help the most and it would be a surprise for them to pick a backcourt player this early in the draft.

My pick: Bismack Biyombo, PF/C, Congo
Height: 6'9"
Weight: 243 lbs.
