Florida State escaped with another win over North Carolina State last night, with a 26-17 victory. The one thing that stood out to me the most was the offense.
What a night and day difference from the Miami game! If it weren't for the penalties and the dropped passes, the score would have been different.
Christian Ponder is the man for the job, I hate to say it, but I don't think Drew Weatherford could have won that game for us.
Ponder put the offense on his back and carried the team, along with Antone Smith who looks like a totally new running back this season. I'm excited to see him grow into a premier running back this year.
As for the defense, I've seen better. Two huge pass plays by the Wolfpack were unacceptable, considering the talent in our secondary. I love Myron Rolle, actually everything about his game, but sometimes I have to ask what's going through his head when he plays. He'll run up for a huge tackle, then watch a ball fly over his head the next play and a wide open receiver behind him waiting to catch it.
Bottom line, once the offense and defense brings their game on the same day, Florida State is a tough team and I'm not being biased.
I know I'm a huge FSU fan, but they are a lethal team full of talent, and once that talent reaches it's potential, they are a scary team.
Next week is a huge test for the Noles; Virginia Tech will be a tough opponent. I think the Noles can come through with a win, but they will be tested.
