2011 Preakness Stakes Field: Dance City's Gradual Improvement Could Be Sign
Dance City Continues to Get Better in Races as Preakness Nears
As the Preakness gets closer, it's imperative to look at horses that are flying under the radar, as the abilities may surprise us. In the case of Dance City, the horse seems to be showing more and more.
With each race, the horse has gotten gradually better, and a third place finish at the Arkansas Derby isn't too bad, and his training has been going very well so far. Despite all this, he's basically a long shot to win.
The horse only has four career races, with the Arkansas Derby being the only big-time race, so who knows how well he'll do in the Preakness. Will he be able to handle his own against a tough crowd of horses?
While he could, it's not all that likely. What could help is that the horse is used to sudden changes. The two career wins had a jockey switch in between them, so Dance City is able to go with the flow.
If he does race, the odds will likely be rather high, perhaps in the 25-30 range, and it's probably not worth a bet. He'll do well, but I don't see him finishing outside the middle of the pack one way or the other.
