NFL Trade Rumors: Where Will Denver Broncos Quarterback Kyle Orton Land?
NFL Trade Rumors, Denver Broncos Quarterback Kyle Orton On Trading Block
After a solid showing late last season, Tim Tebow looked to have the Denver Broncos starting quarterback job locked up. With John Elway taking over the reins though, that isn't so certain.
Most of the offseason, it looked like it would be a battle between Tebow and Kyle Orton for the starting gig. Now though, reports from National Football Post say that Brady Quinn is in the mix which could put Orton on the trading block.
Looking at Orton on paper, you would think there would've been more chatter about an Orton move this offseason. He's only 28 years old which, for a quarterback, is in his prime. The last two years he posted passer ratings of 86.8 and 87.5.
Elway actually said the Orton would begin the year as the starter earlier in the offseason, but he has since had a change of tune. In late April he was quoted saying, "I think where we are as an organization, we are going with Tim."
Teams that could be interested in Orton are the Washington Redskins, Arizona Cardinals, and Miami Dolphins. Each team has nothing in terms up a young, up and coming prospect and have veteran players waiting for a leader to emerge under center. Orton could be that leader.
The only thing certain right now in Bronco-land is that nothing is set in stone. Anything could happen from now to September.
